The Mike Tyson Digital Wallet has been announced by Bitcoin Direct.

What is the easiest way to popularize bitcoin? Right, you should take a person known all over the world and make him the face of your product! This exact way has been used by Bitcoin Direct, the company that has just announced the Mike Tyson Digital Wallet.

This is the first digital wallet bearing the name of celebrity. Peter Klamka, CEO of Bitcoin Direct, says: “People around the world of all ages know Mike Tyson, and as such Tyson’s potential to expand the Bitcoin market is dramatic.”

To launch the Mike Tyson Digital Wallet, Bitcoin Direct teamed up with BitPay, the leader in bitcoin payment technology and developer of the bitcoin wallet platform Copay. Tyson’s wallet uses Copay’s open source code and a custom design experience built for the Mike Tyson Bitcoin brand and Mike Tyson’s fans.

To be absolutely honest, Mike Tyson is not a newcomer in the bitcoin society. Several months ago he opened his first bitcoin ATM in Las Vegas. He admitted to “be honored to join the bitcoin revolution.” The ATM in Las Vegas turned out to become the first one in the range of Tyson’s bitcoin ATMs all over the world.

The Mike Tyson Digital Wallet is promoted as the first mainstream service allowing consumers to buy and sell bitcoin. It is currently available on iOS and will soon be available on Android smartphones through Google Play. The wallet works with any bitcoin ATM allowing to easily transfer funds between users and make purchases with bitcoin.

The new wallet provides several options for the minimal fees required to quickly confirm a payment, while there are no fees for using the wallet. Transactions in the bitcoin network require the minimum size of 0.00000546 BTC (Bitcoin), which is much less than fractions of a penny as for today’s currency rate.

To start using the Mike Tyson Digital Wallet, users need to download the app and select ‘Add Wallet’ option. From there, they can top up the account by sending purchased bitcoin through the app’s Glidera integration.

Peter Klamka is satisfied with cooperation with a celebrity. “Bitcoin Direct is pleased to partner with Mike Tyson because Tyson is a universally known star whose fan base extends generations. People around the world of all ages know Mike Tyson, and as such Tyson’s potential to expand the Bitcoin market is dramatic,” he said.

“The Mike Tyson Digital Wallet offers beginners a simple and secure way to get started with bitcoin. Users can create wallets for sharing funds with friends, store multiple personal wallets in the same app, accept payments from friends, or pay bitcoin-accepting businesses online or in person,” he added.

Fortune calls Bitcoin “the Mike Tyson of currencies”. Indeed the sportsman was known for being volatile and dangerous in and out of the boxing ring (let’s only recall his famous nibbling off Evander Holyfield’s ear in a 1997 match). He also went bankrupt in 2003. Doesn’t it ring a bell? Bitcoin is the world’s most volatile currency that has lost those bold enough to invest significant amounts of money in it.
