Bit4coin.net announced the winners of its Bitcoin Photo Contest, which was launched in September and artists submitted almost 600 photos and collected more than 7,000 likes.
Bit4coin.net announced today the winners of its Bitcoin Photo Contest. It was launched on September 8th – artists submitted almost 600 photos, collected 7,029 likes, and received 0.75 BTC in tips. The top 50 photos by likes and BTC tips were then passed to a jury of 6 bitcoin media sites, and the results are in now.
The winner of the 2015 bit4coin Bitcoin Photo Contest is an image called “Sweet life. Bitcoin will be in chocolate” by a user named Nadin. Nadin convinced 4 of 6 jury members with carefully crafted, delicious looking bitcoin cookies.
Not sure if the jury members were especially hungry at the time, but Nadin can look forward to the grand prize of the contest – €1000 in BTC, delivered via bit4coin vouchers, which can be redeemed immediately for BTC at the current exchange rate.
The runner up is a political image titled “Be Free from Financial Slavery” by a user named Oisin Akiboye Conolly. The photo depicts a graffito in a train underground with the text “$LAV€R¥ – Be free.”
The jury agreed with 3 out of 6 jury votes, thus awarding him €500 in bit4coin vouchers. Oisin further explains in the caption: “This photo captures the frustration of people in regards to fiat currency, and provides the solution: Bitcoin.”
The 3rd place is tied between 4 photos, each with 2 jury votes. The bit4coin team decided to increase the total prize from €250 to €400, so each artist receives a prize of €100 in bit4coin vouchers:
• An amazing set of 36 Retro Bitcoin Logos by user Askhat Gromov – they are free to use for the bitcoin community;
• Solar bitcoin by user Balina – a gorgeous image with a physical image of a ‘bitcoin’ in the sun;
• Bitcoin planet – ‘to the moon!’ was most likely the thinking behind user oxiyusuf’s submission;
• Bitcoin billboard – a beautiful photo of an urban night scene with a bitcoin poster.
Lastly, the company decided to give a special discretionary award to one image: Alistair from South Africa submitted the image of a cupcake party early on in the contest, where his kids together with friends created Bitcoin cupcakes. He actually left another photo of the “making of” in the comments!
While the image could not convince the jury, he amassed 448 community likes over the course of 4 weeks – enough for the bit4coin team to create a special discretionary award for him. Same as the split 3rd place, he receives €100 in BTC – so he can sponsor the next party for his kids. And we’re sure they all will become bitcoin users in the future!
