BlackBerry addresses the emerging market of Enterprise of Things (EoT) devices with the launch of the new cloud-enabled mobile security platform.
On Thursday, BlackBerry revealed its new mobile platform developed for the EoT objects security. Called BlackBerry Secure, the software is targeted at a broad range of IoT devices connected to enterprises.
The company said the new product will make it easier to control EoT objects, including tablets, smartphones, and other industrial devices, and will enable smart product development, marketing and sales. Besides, it will provide lower costs and an increased security.
BlackBerry noted the platform can help organizations to eliminate the risk of hacking attacks. The company has recently teamed up with mobile security solutions provider Zimperium to ensure higher mobile safety for enterprises.
The platform will combine the previously acquired assets and technologies of WatchDox, AtHoc, Encription, and Good Technology. With BlackBerry Secure, users will be able to manage devices from a single back-end and a single front-end.
EoT will facilitate the use of big data solutions, such as data analytics and data storage. With the technology, organizations will be able to manage huge amounts of real-time data.
Meantime, a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy will allow enterprises to accommodate contractors, employees and business partners so that they can have an access to data and corporate networks without a VPN.
BlackBerry Secure is compatible with the company’s current products and will also be compatible with other apps, such as Microsoft Office 365, and third-party cloud systems.
“Businesses must be able to confidentially and reliably transmit sensitive data between endpoints to keep people, information and goods safe,” BlackBerry CEO, John Chen, told ComputerWeekly.
“BlackBerry is uniquely qualified to address this emerging market now because of our deep experience, industry leadership and ongoing product innovation that addresses future business needs.”
BlackBerry owns over 80 security certifications and was recently given the highest scores in six use cases of the “Critical Capabilities for High-Security Mobility Management” report.
“Our customers’ investments are protected because this foundational platform is not only compatible with our current products and third-party software, such as Microsoft Office 365, but is also ‘future-proofed’ to address upcoming capabilities such as messaging and analytics,” said Chen.
“It allows customers to build their own apps, workflows and business processes, and will be compatible with future applications and cloud-based systems because we have plans to expand the platform’s features, market segments it supports and our entire partner ecosystem,” he stated.
BlackBerry Secure will become available in the first ten days of January. The platform is now being tested by dozens of customers and has already received good feedback from its first users.
