The latest online records show e-commerce giant registered three blockchain and cryptocurrency related web domains.

Just recently, Amazon boss and CEO – Jeff boss has added yet another jewel to the crown by officially being declared as the richest man on the planet, toppling down the all-time legacy holder and computing magnate ‘Bill Gates’. Jeff’s success and his glorious journey to this stage can be attributed to his aggressive business style and Amazon spreading its wings across different business verticals and horizon.

It seems that this popular global e-commerce giant – Amazon – now planning its entry into the fintech industry and probably would try its hands in blockchain technology as well. The latest online records show Amazon registering for three blockchain and cryptocurrency related web domains. These are: “amazonethereum.com,” “amazoncryptocurrency.com” and “amazoncryptocurrencies.com“.

All the three mentioned domains are linked to a subsidiary of Amazon.com named as Amazon Technologies Inc. and have been attributed to the past patents filed by the e-commerce companies. Such a move of registering cryptocurrency specific domains gives fuel to the early rumors of Amazon planning to integrate Bitcoin as a payments method option to its e-commerce website.

Well, just like always Amazon has preferred to stay tight-lipped about any of its plans (if at all) pertaining to the use or creation of its own cryptocurrency in place. However, there are several industry analysts and experts, like Mr. Altucher*, who have expressed confidence that Amazon will surely integrate Bitcoin as payments method in future. Mr. Altucher says “I’m certain that Amazon WILL ACCEPT bitcoin. They have no choice. And this will be the tipping point that will create massive generational wealth unlike we’ve ever seen before.”

“[James Altucher] has (co)founded more than 20 companies, authored 11 books, and has been a contributor to several major publications. He is a former hedge fund manager and venture capitalist turned activist blogger/podcaster and offers a subscription-based mailing list – the source of the Amazon information.”

Sharing a similar point of view, Patrick Byrne, Overstock CEO,  said: “I’m certain that Amazon WILL ACCEPT bitcoin. They have no choice. And this will be the tipping point that will create massive generational wealth unlike we’ve ever seen before.”

Well, certainly nothing can be said at this point in time. It is highly possible that looking to Amazon’s past nature of aggressive domain registrations Amazon might have registered these domains with absolutely no plans currently and might keep for future prospects if at all it plans to shift in this business dynamics.
