IPCHAIN Database and Gaming — a Natural Fit?

March 16th, 2018 at 1:19 pm UTC · 3 min read

IPCHAIN represents the fastest, easiest, safest and cheapest way of proving authorship of inventions, artistic work and new concepts and provides tools to safely share information or document the transfer of intellectual property rights.

IPCHAIN Database has so far generated a lot of interest in the scientific community and leading authorities in the world of IP and has established a partnership with the world’s largest IP law firm and WIPO Green.

In what the company describes as the ideal use case for IPCHAIN, the startup works with experienced gaming-industry veteran Caglar Eger to specifically tailor their services to the needs of game developers, who want to protect their new ideas, unique game mechanics, in-game assets such as 3D work or music and the actual code.

“Successful gaming concepts and content often gets blatantly copied by other studios in the hope of making easy money and thus ripping off the original innovator. IPCHAIN can help to prevent that by giving you the means to easily and quickly prove your status as the original creator in a legally secure way.” says Caglar Eger.

We are in contact with studios and game developers who are analysing the advantages of such a blockchain based platform and want to highlight two studios that we are closely communicating with.

One of these studios is Gamebra.in which is based in Ankara, Turkey. Led and owned by developer Yunus Ayyildiz this three-man studio is focusing on minimalistic puzzle games.

Their design concepts are constantly winning prizes and awards in the indie scene and the studio was just recently under the last 10 finalists for the Google Play Indie Games Contest in London. Their biggest success is the game “HOCUS” with more than 10 million downloads on Google Play and the iOS App Store.

“It’s always very difficult to predict success and since you don´t know, if your next game will become the next Flappy Bird or Monument Valley, it totally makes sense to protect your ip as soon as possible — and here comes IP Chain Database with a great solution to help me as an Indie Developer to protect my IP without big costs and without a lot of bureaucracy”, says Yunus Ayyildiz.

Mike Melet, CEO and Co-Founder of AMT Games is another game developer who believes in IPCHAIN Database and says: “Patenting game mechanics is expensive, difficult and costly. It makes sense to protect such intellectual property and wait until the release of the game and its eventual success before we as a company seeks to file for protection.”

AMT Games was founded in St. Petersburg in 2009. During the last nine years they released eight games with a total of 30 mio. downloads with their most successful game being “Battle for the Galaxy” with more than 9 mio. downloads in total. The studio is working on several game concepts at the moment that will probably be released in 2018.

IPCHAIN’s service for game developers will go online in the second half of 2018. For more information visit ipchaindatabase.io or read our whitepaper!
