Moderna COVID-19 vaccine candidate dubbed mRNA-1273 has entered its late-stage trials. The company noted that as of Wednesday, September 16, 2020, about 25,296 participants have been enrolled.
Moderna inked a $1.525 billion deal with the U.S. government for the supply of 100 million doses of its promising mRNA-1273 vaccine. MRNA stock is up in the pre-market.
Moderna (MRNA) stock is up over 18% in the pre-market after adding 4.54% yesterday. The spike is attributed to the announcement that the coronavirus vaccine trial demonstrated a robust immune response.
Following Moderna CEO’s big expectations on mRNA-1273 distribution, Moderna shares jumped. On June 18, Moderna stock rose by 2.59% to close at $64.95. In pre-market today, Moderna shares are 0.08% up.
Among the top coronavirus vaccines are those developed by Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, Novavax, Sanofi and GSK, Oxford University and AstraZeneca. All of them are in different stages of development.
Moderna (MRNA) stock price has risen at the possibility of having a new coronavirus vaccine by the fall of this year. Trials are expected to have been completed in two months’ time.
As Moderna’s CEO Stephane Bancel said, COVID-19 vaccine mRNA-1273 could be first available to a select group of healthcare workers, under emergency use authorization. MRNA stock is up in the premarket.
