Accenture also thanked 2,300 Russian employees for their services over the years.
In wake of the current invasion of Ukraine by Russia, global consulting giant Accenture has decided to make an exit from Russia. Accenture made this announcement on Thursday, March 3, stating that the move comes on the backdrop of the world calling for the immediate end to the “unlawful and horrific attack on the people of Ukraine and their freedom”. In a statement, the company wrote:
“We thank our nearly 2,300 colleagues in Russia for their dedication and service to Accenture over the years. We will be providing support to our Russian colleagues”.
Accenture Helps Ukraine amid the Ongoing War with Russia
Accenture currently doesn’t have a business in Ukraine. However, it said that it shall offer support to Ukrainians working all across the world. Accenture has announced a $5 million financial aid to all non-profit organizations helping the Ukrainians. Accenture said that it shall be offering telehealth services to those in Ukraine and assistance to those willing to leave.
Thus, Accenture will join the list of companies that have announced their exit from Russia. This includes the likes of Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Twitter, and others.
Intel to Discontinue CPU and GPU Shipments to Russia
Chipmaking giant Intel has also decided to pull the plug from its business in the Russian Federation. On Thursday, Intel confirmed that it shall suspend all shipments to Russia and Belarus amid sanctions on those respective countries. In an official statement, the American chipmaking giant said:
“Intel condemns the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and has suspended all shipments to customers in both Russia and Belarus. Our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted by this war, including the people of Ukraine and the surrounding countries and all those around the world with family, friends and loved ones in the region.”
“The Intel Foundation that has already raised over $1.2 million for relief efforts, and we are proud of the work our teams in surrounding areas including Poland, Germany and Romania are doing to aid refugees. We will continue to stand with the people of Ukraine and the global community in calling for an immediate end to this war and a swift return to peace,” added Intel.
Intel has called for an immediate end to war and appealed for a ‘return to peace’. Another semiconductor manufacturer AMD said that it is making a similar move and is suspending all of its sales and distribution to Russia and Belarus.
