Coinbase grabs the top spot in the list amid high trading activity for the Shiba Inu cryptocurrency added to its mobile application in September.

The Coinbase mobile app has emerged as the most popular on the Apple App Store, in the United States. Coinbase retains its top spot by handling giants like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

This happens as investor participation in cryptocurrencies has been growing significantly. As per data from SensorTower, another popular crypto exchange Crypto.com is among the App Store’s Top Ten rankings. The Coinbase iOS app launched back in June 2014 has seen 1.5 million downloads to date.

However, there’s been a sudden increase in the Coinbase app downloads in the last 48 hours. Earlier this week on Tuesday, October 26, Coinbase was the 11th most popular app in Apple’s US App Store. Apart from hitting a new milestone in the Apple App Store, Coinbase is also the second-most popular app in Google Play Store.

In the top ten list of Google’s Play Store apps, Square’s Cash App at Number 5, and Crypto.com at Number 7. Fred Ehrsam, the co-founder of Coinbase recalled the early days of Coinbase on his Twitter handle.

The return of Coinbase to the top spot of Apple’s US App Store comes amid the recent rally in Shiba Inu (SHIB) coin. Coinbase added the cryptocurrency to its exchange back in September. The meme cryptocurrency has been on a wild rally hitting an all-time high earlier this week.

Shiba’s trading volume surged above $40 billion during the recent price rally with Coinbase contributing 10% of it.

Rising Popularity of Crypto Apps

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Coinbase has ranked among the top apps in the Apple App Store. It reached the number 1 spot earlier this year in May and back in December 2017 as well.

On the other hand, Crypto.com has also witnessed rising popularity in recent times. To increase its popularity, Crypto.com recently released an ad featuring Hollywood Star Matt Damon. The “fortune favors the brave” ad from Crypto.com went live on Thursday as it reaches a global audience of crypto users and investors.

As per data from analytics site SensorTower, the Crypto.com app has roughly 600,000 downloads in the last month of September. This shows a rapid interest of a growing number of investors in the crypto space.
