The integration of the Tapjoy technology with ironSource would, particularly, provide benefits to app developers, as it would help them to improve their in-game economies.

Leading business platform for app developers ironSource (NYSE: IS) has announced that it has struck an acquisition agreement with mobile advertising and app monetization company Tapjoy.

According to the agreement, ironSource would acquire the said company for $400 million and the acquisition would be geared towards strengthening its businesses by improving its platform offerings to mobile apps and game developers. This means customers of the company would be able to tap from the enormous potential of Tapjoy as a way of generating extra revenue and exposure to various advertiser demands.

Aside from that, the integration of the Tapjoy technology with ironSource would, particularly, provide benefits to app developers, as it would help them to improve their in-game economies. Not only that, ironSource would be able to develop its vision of increasing its SDK footprint among competitors in the mobile apps and games business.

Speaking on the agreement, Omer Kaplan, CRO and co-founder of ironSource, said:

“Our platform-based approach to serving app developers means we’re able to plug in multiple strategic additions to our software platform to add more value for customers.”

“This acquisition follows that strategy, ultimately allowing us to serve our customers in the most beneficial way possible, by growing our SDK footprint, improving our monetization capabilities, and positioning our platform as a deep and integral part of the in-app and in-game economy,” added he.

As contained in the term of the agreement, the acquisition is expected to be finalized in the first quarter of the coming year (2022) and it is still subject to approval from regulators.

The CEO of Tapjoy, Jeff Drobick, expressed delight with the acquisition and considered ironSource as the most appropriate partner for his firm. According to him “We are delighted to be joining ironSource, a leading business platform for app developers.”

He added:

“Tapjoy’s technology powers monetization, user acquisition, and customer research for some of the world’s largest brands and app developers, with our SDK integrated on approximately 66,000 apps reaching over 1.6 billion monthly active users. As the App Economy continues to grow, we believe that ironSource is the ideal partner to further leverage our products and expertise for continued growth.”

Tapjoy is a San Francisco-headquartered mobile advertising and app monetization company founded in 2007. It has offices spread across the globe in Santa Barbara, Boston, London, Beijing, Tokyo, and Seoul. Likewise, ironSource is a company with a long history in mobile apps and game development and has made a number of acquisitions this year.
