Saudi princess Reem Al Faisal has marked the development of metaverse and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in Saudi Arabia by launching her own NFT collection of photography artworks as well as an artwork gallery within the metaverse. Called “Mekkah and Madinah,” the NFT collection consists of 15 NFTs that represent the Saudi shrine, Al Kabbah. Meanwhile, the metaverse gallery features six Saudi artists. They include Nora AlHathloul, Mariam Al Atik, Shahd Al Ghaith, Noaf Al Omeira, Asmaa Al Khofi, and Trafa Al Khoder.
Reem Al Faisal commented:
“Today we made history with the first exposure of Saudi NFTs in the metaverse. I’ve been photographing all my life, ever since I was a kid, and so I don’t consider it a career as much as a part of me. It’s as natural to me as talking or breathing.”

Reem Al Faisal is a well-known Saudi fine art and documentary photographer as well as the owner of The Empty Quarter photography gallery in Dubai. In addition, the princess is the author of photography books. The subjects of her photographs include Muslims in America, the Nation of Islam, and landscapes. Her works, mostly in black and white, are exhibited worldwide, including Dubai, Bahrain, Egypt, Palestine, China, Singapore, Korea, Spain, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the United States.

Further, you must have heard of the last photographs of the legend Chris Cornell who committed suicide back in 2017. The photoshoot with photographer Randall Slavin had the title “The Last Session”. The photos that became NFTs were named “Until We Disappear” and “White Roses For My Soul To Keep”. Notably, before deciding to auction them, the photographer Randall Slavin got approval from Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell.
Another example of a photography NFT is the collection of artworks by photographer Elise Swopes. By now, their total estimated value has reached as much as $339,772.88.
