Bitcoin Black Friday, one of the largest days of bitcoin commerce during the year, will take place in the end of November and is anticipated to witness an increase in the overall bitcoin sales volume.

Update: You can see the results of the Bitcoin Black Friday 2014 here.

Bitcoin Black Friday, one of the most significant days for bitcoin users, will take place on November 28th.

Tony Sakich, the marketing director at BitPay, wrote on the company’s official blog:

“The largest day of the year for bitcoin purchases is rapidly approaching. Bitcoin Black Friday will be taking place on November 28th, and BitPay wants to make sure merchants are prepared and have their sales listed on BitcoinBlackFriday.com. Last year’s Bitcoin Black Friday event was the most popular day in the history of bitcoin commerce. We hope to see even more merchants join the bitcoin community for this year’s event.”

The event is largely expected by the community, as there is a large number of new companies that entered the bitcoin market, among others TigerDirect, NewEgg, Warner Bros. Records and SchiffGold. Besides, the bitcoin economy has expanded and the number of people shouting “ponzi” continues to decline within time.

The founder of BitcoinBlackFriday.com, Jon Holmquist, commented:

“Bitcoin Black Friday is a way for anyone to purchase gifts for their loved ones and benefit from the increased deals websites are able to offer due to the low cost of Bitcoin. I think that any event that brings the community together is a good thing. I’d rather have a Bitcoin holiday than a conference any day.”

Most of the last year’s Bitcoin Black Friday participants registered high bitcoin sales and this year’s revenues are anticipated to be even higher. The sale in 2013 was widely covered by the media, including CNN, New York Times, NBC, CNBC and PBS.

At Bitcoin Black Friday  2013, BitPay’s transaction volumes increased by over 6%, if compared to the 2012 event. In general, the company processed about $6 billion in transactions last year. However, that was before such companies as Newegg and TigerDirect started accepting bitcoin.

The overall number of participants in the Bitcoin Black Friday 2013 totaled about 600 merchants.

This year participants will include TigerDirect, Fiverr, Overstock and other companies. Besides, such giant as Newegg will also take part in the event. The company includes more than 25 million users and achieved sales of $2.7 billion in 2013.

Mr. Holmquist also added they have added a new feature that will likely appeal to bitcoiners. He said:

“We’re launching a /private section of the website. This section will contain no javascript, cookies, or anything browser-side that could compromise an individual’s identity. It will list all of the deals and merchants. Additionally we’ll be cloning an optimized version of this section onto the TOR network. It will allow anyone to access all the deals while maintaining their own personal privacy.”
