eBay Opens Multiple NFT Roles amid Its Expansion into Web3 Space

With the current open NFT-related roles, it is clear that eBay will further explore the Web3 space.

While tech companies are struggling and laying off employees to cut spending, e-commerce giant eBay Inc is hiring. Recently, eBay has opened a list of positions for roles related to the non-fungible token (NFT) technology and Web3 space. The initiative reflects eBay’s focus on KnownOrigin.io, an Ethereum-powered digital art marketplace acquired by eBay back in June 2022.

Among the roles are Crypto Counsel, Tech Lead, Content Designer, Marketing Campaign Executive, Artist Liaison Manager, Senior Product Designer, Senior Engineer, and Head of Community.

Commenting on the openings, eBay said:

“KnownOrigin.io is an early Web3 pioneer, an NFT marketplace empowering a new generation of digital artists to express themselves, find an audience and earn a living from their passion. And they’re looking for like-minded enthusiasts to join them in their venture!”

Prior to the acquisition of KnownOrigin, eBay launched its own “Genesis” NFT Collection that features 13 limited-edition digital collectibles as green, gold, platinum, and diamond-tier NFTs. These 3D and animated interpretations manifest iconic athletes featured on Sports Illustrated covers over the years.

The collection was launched in partnership with OneOf, a premier green NFT platform for communities across music, sports, and lifestyle.

Further, eBay acquired the KnownOrigin marketplace to expand its reach in the world of digital collectibles.

Last year, eBay CEO Jamie Iannone said he saw great potential in NFTs, as they “simply materialized without much thought.”

Iannone said:

“We did change our policies last year so that you could trade NFT on the platform and essentially, you know, eBay is a place where people have something to sell and people have something by show up.”

With the current open NFT-related roles, it is clear that eBay will further explore the Web3 space.
