Internet of Things Startup Nwave Wins 2015 Cisco BIG Awards

Nwave Technologies – a startup providing an impressive wireless network platform for M2M communications and the IoE – became the winner of the 2015 Cisco® British Innovation Gateway (BIG) Awards.

On Thursday, Cisco announced the 2015 winner of its British Innovation Gateway (BIG) Awards.Nwave Technologies, the Internet of Things start-up founded by the Belarusian Yuri Birchenko, won against tough competition and received $100,000 funding.

Moreover, Nwave Technologies will have the opportunity to capitalize on 12 months of mentoring, advice and services from Cisco and its partners, including PR, marketing, tax/investment and legal assistance.

The Cisco BIG Awards is a Cisco-led UK-wide programme, which in partnership with Chime Communications, Bird & Bird and Kreston Reeves, aims to reward the UK’s most innovative start-up digital businesses and SMEs with an investment of cash, technology and human resources. Cisco is striving to create an environment in which start-up digital businesses and their ideas can flourish. And this year, The BIG Awards are focused on the Internet of Everything.

Cisco CEO, Phil Smith, said: “The 2015 Cisco BIG Awards are not only a celebration of the best of UK innovation, but a window into the future of digitisation and the potential of Internet of Everything technology.”

According to Mr.Birchenko, CEO of Nwave Technologies, the company is going to use the investment to hire more staff, specifically with regards to sales staff and a CTO, reads Startups.

As for Nwave Technologies Ltd, which has beaten more than 150 entrants to become the winner of the 2015 Cisco BIG Awards, the firm is developing wireless network platform for M2M communications and the IoE that provides low-cost, low-power communications between devices and the cloud.

“A wireless long-range network, Nwave has the potential to provide connectivity to certain applications and devices which can’t get internet access or wireless – with a wider goal to help build smart cities,” states Startups.

“Winning the BIG Awards will be like rocket fuel for Nwave and combines huge motivation with vital capital infusion,” said Yuri Birchenko. “Cisco has done a great job to pick six start-ups out of more than 150. The event is not just about three winners, it is about getting start-ups into one room, exchanging ideas and finding ways to work together, and it’s probably the best day of my life,” he added.
