According to Sun, Changpeng Zhao proved to him for several years that “users should always be placed at the top of all interest distributions.”

Tron founder Justin Sun has said some positive things about former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ). In a series of X posts, Sun painted an iconic picture of CZ as he shared some of the invaluable lessons he may have learned from the man who is currently embroiled in legal problems that led him to jail.

Justin Sun Heaps Praises on Changpeng Zhao

According to Sun, the past actions and inactions of Alibaba founder Jack Ma and CZ have undoubtedly shown the importance of doing things the right way rather than doing it the easy way.

In the thread, Sun noted that Ma had always emphasized that the ultimate value of any company is that which comes from the value it provides to users. He suggested that most firms have misplaced priorities by focusing first on profits. However, he believes that, over time, Ma and CZ have succeeded in proving that profit is only a byproduct of user value. His statement read in part:

“A good company achieves substantial profits by fundamentally winning in terms of user value through consistently doing the right thing.”

Sun also noted another interesting aspect about the two entrepreneurs. He says they do not only strive to provide user value but also aim to protect users at all costs. He recalled his time as a student at Jack Ma’s Hupan University, noting how Ma repeatedly hammered on the importance of protecting users. Sun believes he has seen Jack Ma apply his own principles at Alibaba, where users are prioritized even above company investors, partners, and employees.

The same user priority was notably CZ’s mode of operation (M.O), Sun suggested. According to Sun, Changpeng Zhao proved to him for several years that “users should always be placed at the top of all interest distributions”. Although he admitted that keeping users as a priority might sometimes be difficult, he noted that it might take constant reminders to maintain the culture.

Huge Backlash Follows

Meanwhile, it is not exactly clear what Sun hopes to achieve with his latest comments. That is especially true since they come at a time after CZ has already been sentenced to four months in prison for violating the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). That is, barely six months after he pled guilty to federal charges last November. So, the praises don’t amount to much help for him as an individual.

However, some users would like to believe that Sun is making a diversionary attempt to hide behind the goodwill of his references. An X user identified as Zac Sun claimed that Sun is nothing like the duo he is talking about.

Another user compared the Tron founder with CZ, noting how the latter massively burned BNB tokens to support the community.
