TRON Founder Justin Sun Win Blue Origin Space Travel Bid for $28M

Sun revealed that while he had won the bid half a year ago, he hadn’t been able to attend the launch of the mission.

Justin Sun, the founder of TRON, has joined the rather elite club of rich entrepreneurs who are involved in space travel. The cryptocurrency tycoon will go on a space mission next year in Jeff-Bezos-owned Blue Origin flight.

Moreover, Sun will be able to select and take along five crew members on this space mission. Apparently, Justin Sun was the unnamed bidder who purchased a trip to space in an auction. This will be Blue Origin’s first-ever crewed mission that takes off in July next year.

Sun acknowledged in a recent tweet that while he won the bid half a year ago, he wasn’t able to attend the launch of the mission. The entrepreneur won the bid for $28 million. Addressing the fact that five other crew members will join him on the mission, Sun called them ‘warriors’ and claimed that the space was for everyone. He also mentioned that the selection of the five members will be done over the upcoming months. The group of five may consist of people in the TRON DAO community, long-term shareholders of specific crypto assets, and additional leaders from fashion, technology, and entrepreneurship.

A small while ago, Japanese billionaire and entrepreneur Yusaka Maezawa, who founded Zozotown, returned to Earth following a twelve-day voyage into space. The commercial space endeavors initialized by billionaires like Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, and Elon Musk, have gained significant traction from the rich and famous space enthusiasts around the world.

Following three flights that took off Jeff Bezos and several other elite visitors into orbit, Blue Origin is planning its first-crewed space flights.

Justin Sun, who originally hails from China, is a crypto entrepreneur with a net worth of about $200 million. The thirty-one-year-old is often called Alibaba‘s founder Jack Ma‘s apprentice. While Sun cherishes such expensive and unique auctions, he has also led (and purchased) a $4.57 million bid for a charity inauguration with Warren Buffett.

On a humanitarian note, Sun was only last week selected as Grenada’s representative to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. He plans to carry the flag of the Caribbean country with him on space travel.

The pioneer was initially scheduled to take off to space in Blue Origin’s first flight on July 20, along with Blue Origin’s head Jeff Bezos and his brother, Wally Funk. However, due to some planning dispute, his seat was acquired by an 18-year-old Oliver Daemen. Subsequently, Sun has now decided to fly in the fourth quarter of 2022. He will be joined by five other crewmates on the ship who will be nominated during the upcoming months.
