WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange Says He Made 50,000% Return on Bitcoin

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange thanked the U.S. government after it pushed companies like MasterCard to block payments to his website WikiLeaks in 2010.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange tweeted on October 14: “My deepest thanks to the U.S. government, Senator McCain, and Senator Lieberman for pushing Visa, MasterCard, Paypal, AmEx, Moneybookers, et al, into erecting an illegal banking blockade against @WikiLeaks starting in 2010. It caused us to invest in Bitcoin—with > 50,000% returns”.

This whole situation is connected with the fact that WikiLeaks was banned by many banking institutions and they refused to process transactions for this organization starting in 2010. So Assange had to invest in something else and his choice fell on the cryptocurrencies.

WikiLeaks started accepting bitcoin donations in June 2011. Earlier he said bitcoin is “the most intellectually interesting development in the last two years” and added that the next important innovation in the financial sector will involve bitcoin.

In the period between 2010 and 2017 bitcoin price raised from $0.06 to around $5,814. This represents a 9,689,900 percent increase. By the way, there are a lot of different versions about the future price of bitcoin. But it is obvious that it will grow in an exorbitant rate.

Mike Novograts, current head of Galaxy Investment Partners, has predicted that Bitcoin will jump to 10,000 in next six to ten months. “This is going to be the largest bubble of our lifetimes. Prices are going to get way ahead of where they should be,” he announced.

But, in contrast with a majority of frightened investors, who see just volatility, he sees opportunity: “You can make a whole lot of money on the way up, and we plan on it. In a lot of ways, this is a market like any other market.

McAfee, mostly known for the development of first commercial antivirus software, state that Bitcoin has all chances to reach $500,000 in the next three years.

Entrepreneur Trace Mayer predicted Bitcoin Price Will Reach $27,395 in February 2018. At the time, Mayer first recommended bitcoin, the price per coin was just $0.25.

Also, relatively recently, Hillary Clinton stated that Assange is a Russian assistant: “He’s a tool of Russian intelligence, and if he’s such a … martyr of free speech, why doesn’t WikiLeaks ever publish anything coming out of Russia?” she said.

Clinton added: “I think that their intention, coming from the very top with Putin, was to hurt me and to help [US President Donald] Trump”. She continued: “But it’s much bigger than that. He wants to destabilise democracy, he wants to undermine America, he wants to go after the Atlantic alliance and we consider Australia an extension of that.”

For all Clinton’s attacks Wikileaks founder responded in Twitter:

It should be recalled Julian Assange has been in the Ecuadorean embassy since 2012, fearful that extradition to Sweden could lead to the US in turn extraditing him to face charges over the sensitive leaks.
