The cybersecurity and software pioneer stakes his name and up to $10 mln on a bet that the Bitcoin price will move above $500,000 within three years.

Bitcoin has seen many forecasts for these years – some have come true, others have not. Here is what John McAfee, a cybersecurity and software pioneer, think about further development of the cryptocurrency.

McAfee is a founder of McAfee Associates offering now a range of enterprise security software. He is mostly known for the development of McAfee, the first commercial antivirus software.

McAfee states that Bitcoin has all chances to reach $500,000 in the next three years.

It is hard to say what the primary aim of McAfee is – to demonstrate his deep interest in Bitcoin or to be in the spotlight. Last year, the former software developer for NASA explained his involvement with the cryptocurrency saying that it will eventually become “the standard for the world”. Here it is necessary to admit that McAfee’s name is well known inside and outside of the digital currency space.

The following McAfee’s statement in Twitter read:

Once the attention of Bitcoin enthusiasts was grabbed, McAfee announced a new token McAfee Coin (MCF). It was created to fund tech startups promising to “turn investing upside down and inside out”.

McAfee website says:

“Bringing your passion, your knowledge, your insight and your coding skills, let’s fundamentally change how investment decisions are made. We think hackers are most productive when they can spend most of their time hacking. Our goal is to create an environment where you can focus exclusively on getting an initial version built. Selected group of graduates of the Accelerate programs will receive more funding from our own investment funds and other institutional investors around the world.”

Bitcoin will grow in the coming years

Bitcoin has been leading the list of cryptocurrencies in six of the past seven years, climbing from zero to a value of current $2,370. John McAfee is by far not the only expert who evaluates that Bitcoin’s potential is though much higher.

Jeremy Liew, the first investor in Snapchat, and Peter Smith, Blockchain CEO and co-founder, have recently stated that the cryptocurrency has all chances to explode to $500,000 by 2030.

Ronnie Moas, stock research analyst and founder of Standpoint Research, has also shared his thoughts that Bitcoin can reach $5,000 within this year. He explains that the limitation of the quantity of bitcoins can cause increased demand, which in its turn will drive the price high. As if to confirm his belief in cryptocurrencies, Moas has already invested a few hundred U.S. dollars each in Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin and is going to invest even more.
