FarmVille Developer Zynga Bulldozing the Gaming Industry with Blockchain

Zynga developer Eric Schiermeyer: First the game, second – the blockchain. He plans to tokenize in-game assets via Gala Network. Such a plan is giving the players a chance to easily exchange value right within the virtual world.

Some of the blockchain experts claim that we are witnessing the new revolution in the blockchain sphere. Zynga, the famous developer of the FarmVille, claims he wants to ultimately unite the in-game assets with the real world, using blockchain. Gamers who understand the ideas behind crypto have been waiting for such announces since the beginning of times.

When you look at the FarmVille graphics and design, you understand that Eric Schiermeyer simply cannot make bad games. Even the FarmVille icon warmly reminds of the village life, so far from the scope of city people.

Zynga Is Building a Blockchain-Based Network for Players

The developers from Zynga studio name their product Gala Network. The company is at the well-detailed games for Facebook and other social networks now. Zynga had strikingly developed racing game CSR2, battle game Dawn of Titans, dragon-themed adventure Merge Dragons, and a hefty of RPG magical puzzles, a ton of beautiful casino slots (respect!) and of course, the classic Zynga Poker.

Zynga, FarmVille, Blockchain: Revolution in the Virtual Kingdom?

Schiermeyer wants the in-game assets tokenized so that the players could obtain and possess digital uniques. Per Eric Schiermeyer noted:

“Just like networked games and social games, I believe that blockchain games are the next evolution in gaming, Pretty soon, nobody will play a game that is a black hole of time and money, if they have good alternatives that allow the player to retain ownership of their time and money. We want to be first with a real mass-market game that is a game first and blockchain a distant second.”

He thinks that it is time to bring blockchain benefits to online gaming, as projects like Cryptokitties gain popularity:

“It’s going to be a revolutionary experience for people. Unlike any other experience I’ve ever seen, when you spend money here, you get something, something that you can keep, and maybe even give away or give some to somebody else. You can’t do that in traditional free-to-play games right now.”

Schiermeyer attracts Blockchain Game Partners to participate in the development of Gala. They have a close relationship with FarmVille 2 developing team too. One of the developers Mike McCarthy is simultaneously working on a game called Townstar. It receives the boost that Schiermeyer was talking about, during a chat with VentureBeat.

In-Game Assets Are Similar to Ethereum Tokens

As the Decrypt’s Will Heasman nailed it:

“Schiermeyer doesn’t just want to levy the popularity of blockchain gaming. Instead, he intends to build games that stand on their own merits.”

The key property of any blockchain-based coin or token is that you cannot copy, reproduce, chargeback the coins you have spent. The same goes for anything put onto the blockchain rails. Once you start mining or staking, it is forever, unless the network experience some major collapse. And all of the assets are having the inner value because it is physically impossible to stop a network with thousands of nodes, such as Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash.

Gamers must have the possibility to buy, sell and convert to cash anything game related. Computer mages from Zynga are making games that give the crypto industry a necessary hit. And a reminder, showing the other developers risky, yet honorable business models and raw competition spirit.
