Other than this, Neymar has also previously made NFT purchases from the ACESnikers fashion collection, Flipped BAYC, flipped CryptoPunks, and flipped Doodles.

PSG and Brazilian football star, Neymar has added to his Bored Apes Yacht Collection by purchasing Bored Ape #6633 for a record fee of 159.99 ETH. The pro footballer flaunted his new acquisition on his Twitter page.

The shared photo showed a pink ape outfitted with flashy futuristic glasses, a pink bubble, and the hashtag #BoredApeY. Only one month ago, the same NFT sold for 96 ETH meaning that it’s appreciated by about 66% since that time.

Neymar’s Bored Ape and NFT Collection

Neymar has spent an estimated $1 million on digital tokens and ENS addresses. Before this purchase, he previously bought Ape 5269 for 189.69 ETH. The ape which has laser eyes is a favorite among Bitcoin hopefuls who think that the price of Bitcoin will soon hit $100k. It is also Neymar’s most expensive NFT.

For what appears to be security reasons, both apes have been transferred from Neymar’s “EneJay” account to another account with the name “EneJayVault”.

Other than this, Neymar has also previously made NFT purchases from the ACESnikers fashion collection, Flipped BAYC, flipped CryptoPunks, and flipped Doodles.

Celebrities in a Growing NFT Bubble

While cryptocurrency prices continue their feet dragging, NFT is back leading the adoption game as many more people jump on the trend. For a month that has not even ended, NFT marketplace, OpenSeas has already surpassed its highest-ever monthly trading volume this January. After posting sales of $218 million on Wednesday, the marketplace surpassed $4 billion in trading volume for the month. According to Dune Analytics, this is almost 20% more than the record highest sale of $3.4 billion set in August 2021.

The success of NFTs is due in no small means to the influx of sports franchises like Adidas, fashion brands, and celebrities. Earlier this month, rapper Eminem bought a BAYC ape nicknamed EMinApe for $460,000 and made it his Twitter profile picture. Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, also bought a BAYC Ape for 117ETH and transferred ownership to her. Stephen Curry, Britney Spears, and Jimmy Fallon have also bought from the Bored Apes collection.

Yet, these are just the celebrities purchasing NFTs from the BAYC collection. Celebrities continue to collect NFTs across different collections. Many celebrities like Snoop Dogg, Lindsay Lohan, Francis Ngannou, Tony Hawk, Lewis Capaldi, and many more have also launched different NFT collections in the past year.

With many more metaverse projects springing up all over the ecosystem NFTs look to be the new trendsetter.
