American entertainment giant Warner Bros is now trying to blend the physical and digital world in a unique way. The company has announced the release of six million DC-themed NFT cards which will be hybrid in nature, for this launch, Warner Bros has partnered with Cartamundi Group.

These DC-themed cards will be physical cards tethered to redeemable non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles. The cards will feature 155 different superheroes while the NFTs will be minted on the Ethereum sidechain Immutable X.

As per the announcement, Warner Bros shall be releasing these hybrid collectibles through a new platform dubbed Hro app. Also, the hybrid pack of collectibles will be available in the price range of $5-$100.

Furthermore, Warner Bros plans to issue some limited edition cards having imagery and characters from the latest DC Comics film, “The Batman”. Warner Bros said that its DC-themed trading cards will hit the shelves and digital wallets by the end of this month. Pam Lifford, president of Warnermedia’s Global Brands and Experiences department said:

“Trading cards have been a favorite of fans for decades. Combining that enthusiasm for collecting with a custom NFT is just brilliant, and this program brings the DC brand to fans in a way that’s never been done before. This platform will provide fans a whole new way to engage with their favorite characters from across the DC multiverse and even expand their ability to interact with other collectors.”

Warner Bros and NFT Cards

Major media and entertainment companies across the world have been willing to enter this world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). This is also not the first time that Warner Bros has been releasing its NFTs.

Last October 2021, the company issued what DC comics calls “the largest NFT drop” ever. Also, DC Comics has worked with Veve collectibles and released some of the NFT collectibles featuring the company’s most well-known comic book characters.

Besides, Warner Bros has also dropped NFT collectibles for different movies such as Matrix NFTs for its recent film “The Matrix Resurrections”.

Just like Warner Bros, the DC Comics competitor Marvel has also been dropping its NFTs. Over the last 12 months, the company has also dropped Marvel-themed superhero and supervillain NFTs.
