As proof of its growing interest in AI, the Solana Foundation has also announced its decision to increase funding for grants targeted at the development of AI on the Solana blockchain.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has undoubtedly taken the world by storm, and big crypto players such as Solana are wasting no time diving in. This follows after the Solana Foundation announced on Tuesday that it has officially integrated AI into its network through a ChatGPT plug-in developed by Solana Labs.

The plug-in, which was first unveiled by Solana Labs in a late April teaser, is primarily focused on end users. As explained by the developers, the plug-in will simply make it easier for users to understand Solana data and protocols. It will ultimately also help them onboard seamlessly into the Web 3.0 space.

Features of the New Plug-in

The excited team of developers says that interested users may download the ChatGPT plug-in from GitHub. They also boast that the plug-in can be used to perform several functions. These include buying and listing non-fungible tokens (NFTs), transferring tokens, interpreting data, verifying transactions, and finding NFT collections by floor price.

Intending to improve user interaction, Solana is plugging ChatGPT into an RPC node. This will read data from multiple sources on-chain and then supply questioning users with the necessary information.

For example, users may ask the AI to tell them what NFTs a particular amount of their SOL tokens can buy. They could also ask questions related to a particular NFT collection and so on.

Solana Keen on AI Technology

With the ChatGPT plug-in, Solana has certainly become the first Layer-1 blockchain to integrate AI. However, it might not be done with the technology just yet.

As proof of its growing interest in AI, the Solana Foundation has also announced its decision to increase funding for grants targeted at the development of AI on the Solana blockchain. While it initially pledged $1 million to the cause, the foundation has now raised the funding to $10 million. As developers claim, the rolling grants program has received at least 50 applications so far.

The Solana Foundation has also launched an accelerator program for university students. The program, which will last for three months, will focus on experimenting with blockchain and AI.
