University of Nicosia Launches First-Ever Master of Science Course in Metaverse

Registration for the upcoming semester is already open, the availability is limited, therefore those pursuing the goal to build a career in the metaverse have to enroll now.

Cyprus-based University of Nicosia (UNIC) has introduced the first in the world course in the metaverse, allowing students to get a Master of Science (MSc) degree. The program aims to help those interested in the metaverse develop skills essential for the industry, including 3D modeling and design, virtual reality and augmented reality development, blockchain and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) development, data skills, project management, marketing, communication, creativity, and collaboration skills.

Professor George Giaglis, Executive Director of UNIC’s Institute for the Future, commented:

“We are thrilled to introduce the world’s first MSc in Metaverse, showcasing our commitment to delivering forward-thinking education that addresses the demands of rapidly evolving industries. The metaverse represents the future of human interaction and offers tremendous potential across various sectors. Through this programme, we aim to empower students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in this exciting new landscape.”

The program is supposed to run over the course of a year from September to August and divided into three semesters. The main focus of the course is on two areas: Metaverse Design and Metaverse Management.

In addition, to facilitate the metaverse studying process, the University of Nicosia has announced a scholarship program worth €300,000 annually. Within the initiative, exceptional applicants will be granted financial support, which will allow them to become MSc in the metaverse without financial constraints.

Being the largest university in Cyprus, the University of Nicosia is one of the top institutions offering education in the blockchain sphere. Back in 2014, UNIC offered the first Master of Science degree in Blockchain and Digital Currency, the course was first available in online format. Currently, the University of Nicosia has the world’s largest team of faculty and staff focused on crypto assets and blockchains. In addition, it serves as the academic lead for the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum (the advisory body of the European Committee).

So far, UNIC has educated over 100,000 students from more than 120 countries in academic and professional training courses focused on cryptocurrency, blockchains, and Web3.
