American Actor Launches Web3 Entertainment Startup for Creators

Creators can come from anywhere around the globe to join Adim. Initially, the web3 entertainment startup will select 100 creators from all applicants. The chosen creators will join McElhenney and TV writer Keyonna Taylor in a virtual writer’s room.

American actor and filmmaker Rob McElhenney have joined the host of traditional entertainment industry personnel trooping into the Web3 world. The actor has launched a new “entertainment tech” company dubbed Adim to use Web3 to co-create content, share stories, and share in the royalties and revenues with NFT holders. The entertainment startup would use a decentralized writers’ room to create IP.

McElhenney is co-founding the web3 entertainment startup along with Mellissa Kaspers, Richard Rosenblatt, Chase Rosenblatt, and Spencer Marell. The initiative is introducing a more rewarding and accessible future for entertainment. Creators will be able to connect, partner, and own significant shares in their creative output.

The filmmaker explained:

“Every beloved character throughout TV movie and gaming history has been imagined and brought to life through collaboration. Adim is building for the next evolution of these groups – communities of creators, writers, artists, designers, developers, fans and friends working together to create and own a new generation of content.”

Creators can come from anywhere around the globe to join Adim. Initially, the web3 entertainment startup will select 100 creators from all applicants. The chosen creators will join McElhenney and TV writer Keyonna Taylor in a virtual writer’s room.  Also, they will be opportune to create characters and more under the supervision of respectable writers. All participants will get a “Core Character” NFT that conveys a share of ownership over the IP that was created in the cohort.

Taylor added that Adim presents a unique opportunity to talented minds through the Web3 entertainment startup. Taylor is also the Chief Creative Officer and Creator Room Mentor at Adim. He referred to the initiative as a “tremendous opportunity.”

Furthermore, Adim has secured $5 million in a seed round led by a16z. The company plans to use the fund to achieve its vision of integrating content development into Web3. The General Partner at a16z. Chris Dixon. Noted:

“The idea that the next Disney or Marvel characters we love could come from an enthusiastic, highly engaged community of creators and fans coming together using web3 concepts rather than from the top down is a huge opportunity for the entire entertainment ecosystem.”

Dixon wrote about the funding in a Twitter thread, confident that the startup will grow over time. He added that Adim would reflect the uniqueness and talents of its participants. Dixon wrote that “Adim community members could fork characters created by users and build outward from the original Adim universe.”
