Elon Musk Jokes about Buying Manchester United

Whether jokes or not, the tweet about Musk buying Manchester United has gained more than a million likes. With nearly 100 retweets, many notable names and counting have reacted to the statement.

Without mentioning the club’s current struggles and defeats, Musk affirmed that Manchester United would definitely be his choice if he wanted to buy a sports team. In his words, “although, if it were any team, it would be Man U. They were my favorite team as a kid.”

Manchester is not having a good time with a chaotic start to the ongoing 2022/2023 premier league. The red devils kicked off the season with a 2-1 loss to Brighton. With players like star striker Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Maguire, and Marcus Rashford, Man United lost again at 4-0 to Brentford F.C. over the weekend. The team has not won away from Old Trafford against Premier League opponents since March. Also, the squad has not finished in the first position in the league since 2013 under the legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The struggle continues even with eight coaches over the past decade.

Fans Protests Man United’s Glazer Family

According to the current stock valuation, Musk would have bought Man United for at least £2 billion. The Tesla CEO, who is worth about $260 billion, could easily afford the purchase. Musk’s initial tweet of the purchase gave some brief hope to Manchester United fans who have been disappointed lately by the club’s performance. The red devils’ fans are also protesting against the Glazers, who acquired the club for £790m in a heavily leveraged deal in 2005. As many were optimistic about a possible takeover by Musk, others are against it. Some Twitter users referred to Musk’s involvement with Twitter and how he is backing off the deal. More people mentioned the billionaire’s violation of the settlement deal with the US SEC
