Visitors of Tune8, a subsidiary of adult entertainment platform Pornhub, will be rewarded with digital currency for watching porn, which is the result of Pornhub subsidiary’s partnership with blockchain platform Vice Industry Token.
Penetrating into various areas of our life, blockchain technology has not steered clear of the adult entertainment sector. Tube 8, a subsidiary of an adult entertainment platform Pornhub, has partnered with blockchain platform Vice Industry Token (VIT) to reward users with cryptocurrency for watching videos on their website. The development is set to be launched by the end of 2018. It will put the entire Tube8 platform on the blockchain.

Pornhub has about 150 million visitors a month, and the news will probably contribute to increasing this amount. The collaboration will make it possible for users to get paid for engaging in activities on the Tube8 platform, such as streaming and interacting with videos. For engaging with content on the platform, visitors will earn VIT tokens.
Tube8 spokesperson Robin Turner said:
“For as long as I can remember, getting paid to watch porn was always a pipedream; one that was always dreamed about, but never fully realized. Now however, with the introduction of VIT, we are marking a paradigm shift in how people consume adult entertainment. As opposed to having to fork over money to consume content, which some sites require, our users will get paid to consume our free content. The more they interact with our videos, the more money they earn.”
He added:
“VIT offers Tube8 a way to reward their viewers by monetizing content through the VIT protocol. It is the only cryptocurrency that is designed specifically for tokenizing and rewarding viewers of free content on tube sites. Anyone can earn VIT and anyone can buy VIT.”
According to Turner, users won’t have to pay extra fees to use their tokens:
“There are no fees but Tube8 and Vice Industry Token will hopefully benefit mutually by expanding their user bases and increasing engagement with their respective products through this collaboration.”
In April of this year, Pornhub has partnered with privacy-focused cryptocurrency Verge (XVG), which enabled users to pay for the platform’s premium services – as well as those of sister sites Brazzers and Nutaku – with XVG. Two months later, Pornhub added Zencash and TRON to its cryptocurrency payment options. Vice Industry Token, in its turn, has managed to strike deals with a number of adult industry household names as well. Among them is a collaboration with Trump whistleblower Stormy Daniels.
The recent collaboration could turn out to be one of the most significant entries of blockchain into the mainstream. Although adult entertainment retains the reputation of early adopter for blockchain, introducing a reward system unto such a huge platform cannot go unnoticed.
“Tube8 has over 10 million registered users who frequent the platform regularly. Considering the popularity of cryptocurrency right now, it only made sense to pay them for watching, and interacting with, our videos. We value their attention and want to keep them coming back for more!” Turner said.
