CESS is leading the way by building partnerships and innovating with solutions that are making Web3 a reality.

CESS (Cumulus Encrypted Storage System), a blockchain-based decentralized storage and content delivery infrastructure, recently announced the approval by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) of CESS’s application for standard number P3233, which is formally titled the Standard for Blockchain-Based Decentralized Storage Protocol Specification. The approval attests to the recognition by the tech community of CESS’s authority and technical expertise in the decentralized storage field and is a major leap forward for the standardization and normalization of decentralized storage technology on a global scale.

Toward that end, CESS was invited once again to sponsor – for the second year running – the Duke University Web3 Conference at the renowned Fuqua School of Business on March 22 & 23, 2024. The event was proudly hosted by the Duke Blockchain Club in collaboration with CESS and other sponsors. CESS sponsored Duke University Web3 Conference 2023 as well, and following the success of last year’s event, the theme of this year’s conference was “the resurgence of Web3”.

Specifically, the conference brought together professionals, companies, thought leaders, and students to discuss the future of everything crypto, from NFTs and DeFi to DAOs, blockchain, decentralized storage, and more. Zero Knowledge Proofs, Trust, Identity, Real World Asset Tokenization, and other innovations were also discussed as pathways to the resurgence of Web3.

CESS CESS Builds a Data Value Network with Innovative Decentralized Storage & CDN

CESS Co-founder and Chairman Nick Zaldastani commented on the conference and explained that data storage and retrieval systems of the future need to be fast, secure, efficient, highly available, accessible, and cost-effective if they are to meet the growing needs of users in different use cases, particularly enterprise-grade corporations. He said:

“CESS, thanks to a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) model, will drive mass deployment of network nodes globally using incentives and will allow everyone – from miners, users, enterprises, and more – to operate together. This will create a safe, secure, transparent, and scalable data value network that is driven by open sharing, the efficient use of resources, incentivized participation by different stakeholders, and the fair distribution of value that is unlocked from the seamless trade, transfer, and use of digital assets in new and innovative ways across the Web3 space. Also, in formulating the first-ever decentralized storage IEEE standard – a critical stepping stone toward facilitating innovation and collaborative growth of the Web3 space – we are helping to pave a user-focused future for Web3 data storage and retrieval – one that operates with enterprise needs in mind as well.”

Nick Zaldastani also commented on how CESS’s blockchain-based decentralized storage and CDN infrastructure for Web3 data economy ensures secure massive storage, millisecond-level retrieval times, and opens new opportunities for the creation and fair distribution of data value.

Specifically, he said that the CESS data value network can help grow the data economy by allowing assets, currency, and value to flow freely over the internet. This represents a much-needed departure from the centralized monopoly ethos of the Web2 era. Within the CESS decentralized storage and CDN service framework, a decentralized data value network is created where token rewards incentivize the efficient utilization of idle storage resources. This leads to an open and transparent data sharing platform in which participation from developers, creators, merchants, and consumers alike are appropriately rewarded and efficiently facilitated. The end result is the circulation of data and value creation thanks to the unlocking of the value of digital assets.

This approach also ensures that within the CESS Data Value Network ecosystem, creators and owners of data retain the right to redefine how the value of data is distributed and places the ultimate authority over the distribution of the value of data in the hands of users themselves.

The location of the conference is notable, having taken place in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area of North Carolina – commonly known as the Research Triangle that encompasses Duke, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University – all renowned research universities. The Research Triangle is also a hub for technology and biotech companies and is home to 60,000+ engineers and technologists, 17,000+ undergraduate and graduate students at Duke University alone, and 4,300+ professors with leading Web3 credentials.

CESS Supports Large-Scale DApps, Advancing the Development of AI, RWA, and More Modern Innovations

In the words of Nick Zaldastani:

“CESS is built to be the blockchain-based decentralized storage and content delivery infrastructure of the future. It facilitates on-chain data sharing for users and creators and allows builders to develop and deploy DApps quickly and effectively. It also offers the most optimal Web3 solution for storing and retrieving high-frequency dynamic data, thereby reshaping the value distribution and circulation of data assets while ensuring data sovereignty and complete user privacy.”

In this way, CESS streamlines on-chain data sharing, enhances DApp development and deployment, has the power to drive the mass deployment of a global network of nodes globally thanks to DePIN infrastructure and incentives, and solves the data availability problem commonly seen in blockchain networks, particularly Ethereum. Other CESS innovations and technologies, such as MDRC (Multi-Format Data Rights Confirmation Mechanism), establish data lineage and help in copyright protection, while simultaneously managing the storage resources needed by miners across the globe.

Combined with MDRC is CESS’s DeOSS (Decentralized Object Storage Service), the first innovation of its kind that provides secure, lightning-fast, and scalable storage for large files with privacy management, making it an ideal solution for enterprise-level users dealing with dynamic data storage needs.

As we move from Web2 to Web3 and into a new world with new challenges such as AI, cross-chain compatibility, and a move away from centralized cloud storage solutions that are under someone else’s control, CESS is a front-runner in the data storage and solutions space, complete with its own blockchain and CDN. It also features a chain-agnostic, interoperable, and modular architecture. These capabilities make it ideal for users across the board, especially for industries that deal with sensitive information such as healthcare, financial services, and defense/military organizations.

CESS is leading the way by building partnerships and innovating with solutions that are making Web3 a reality, and it delivers the speed, efficiency, and interoperability required of a truly global data network that is owned and controlled by users themselves. In becoming more than just a storage blockchain network but a conduit for value connectivity and sharing, CESS is heralding a more open, transparent, and decentralized future for Web3. As part of this mission, CESS has forged strong partnerships with universities, reflecting the project’s commitment to the industry’s long-term growth and positive evolution.

Furthermore, by working in tandem with leading universities, researchers, and academics, keeping professionals and recognized institutions such as IEEE in the loop, cultivating native Web3 talent, and maintaining an unwavering commitment to upholding its commitment to supporting education and cultivating a new generation of Web3 developers and builders, CESS is perfectly positioned to continue innovating and growing the Web3 space.
