The financial sector has always been a primary target for cyberattacks. As a result, and to protect the wider financial ecosystem, it is vital that cyber-risk minimisation practices within financial institutions remain resilient and effective. The Africa Cybersecurity Resource Centre (ACRC) is the first regional and sectorial organization dedicated to improving cybersecurity and cyber-resilience for the financial sector, contributing to the protection of data and financial assets of over 2,500 micro finance institutions, banks, insurances, digital financial service providers, central banks, and their customers. The initiative aims to secure the rapid development of digital financial systems and encourage financial inclusion, thus improving overall stability. Funded by the African Development Bank, this multi-stakeholder project is led by a consortium of public, private and academic partners, and is currently being rolled out in West and East Africa.
The CybeRes East Africa Summit will address the major concerns and solutions to overcome the Cyber Threats faced within the Financial Sector and making businesses more Cyber-Resilience towards a better future.
