The Grammy Awards Academy taps eco-conscious NFT platform OneOf to rollout slate of commemorative NFTs on Tezos starting from next year.

The Recording Academy and the Grammy Awards recently announced a partnership with music NFT platform OneOf to build NFTs on Tezos, an open-source, PoS, energy-efficient blockchain.

The partnership will birth loads of digital collectibles and experiences celebrating and commemorating Grammy winners and nominees. In addition, the tokens will feature designs by some world-renowned crypto artists and draw inspiration from the iconic Grammy Award itself. OneOf currently has the backing of iconic music producer Quincy Jones – a 28-time Grammy award winner.

The Academy pointed out that it chose OneOf because of its s sustainable NFT-building approach. Co-President of the Recording Academy, Panos A. Panay issued an official statement which read:

“In considering [an] NFT partner, we were committed to working with a like-minded organization that had an artist-first approach and we have undoubtedly found that in OneOf. As an Academy, we are always looking for ways to help artists discover new forms of creative expression, while also creating new ways of income generation and ways for fans to interact with the artists that they love. OneOf shares that vision, and we are proud to work with a sustainable NFT company.”

In addition, the Academy stated that it would reveal further details on the special collection in January next year. The professional honorary organization also plans to donate part of the NFT proceeds to its scholarship fund.

The Academy and OneOf’s Tezos-powered NFTs Expected to Usher in New Era in Musical NFTs

According to reports, the Grammy Awards will release the Tezos NFTs for three consecutive years, starting from the 64th edition. Meanwhile, for OneOf, this significant collaboration with the Academy is another feather in its cap. Furthermore, the revolutionary, eco-conscious NFT platform also looks to build on previous partnerships with the annually-held iHeartRadio Music Festival. The two-day music concert festival, launched in 2011, currently serves as OneOf’s official collectibles partner.

Lin Dai, Adam Fell, and Joshua James, all co-founders of OneOf, also weighed in on this recent development with the Academy. They extolled the honorary organization saying:

“For 63 years, the GRAMMYs and the Recording Academy have been the premiere representation, celebration and advocacy partner for the artists, songwriters and professionals who create the music we love.”

The trio further underscored the important role NFTs have to play in empowering the music industry in a revolutionary way. They also revealed how honored they felt by partnering with the Academy in ushering in a new era in the industry.

Another achievement for OneOf is its growing partnership deals with notable recording artists and musicians. For instance, fast-rising debutante Doja Cat, and Californian rap veteran The Game, have already released NFTs on the platform. Furthermore, Alesso, Charlie Puth, H.E.R, and Jacob Collier are also working with OneOf to release their own NFTs .

Besides OneOf, several other celebrities and sports organizations are partnering with NFT-centric platforms to take advantage of the boom. For instance, the NBA partnered with Dapper labs some months back to create NBA Topshot moments.
