Electronic music legend BT has released his 14th studio album, Metaversal. The 11-track album is more than any song as it uses blockchain technology to deliver a unique listening experience. Each track has a unique sound wave configuration that changes with the time of day.
Owing to its design, the album is not available on traditional streaming channels. Rather, its music can be enjoyed by using a blockchain-based decentralized application (dApp) accessible online. BT’s most recent album, General.json grossed 88.8 ETH, or £187,000, on Superrare back in May. It is expected that this will do no lesser.
Metaversal: More than Just an Album
BT noted that Metaversal, is not just an album, but an audio-visual playback engine and software cipher. Speaking about the cipher weaved into the music, BT said, “One of the most thrilling things about releasing music over the years has been how long it will take and who will uncover the hidden meanings in the compositions first.”
The album, Metaversal contains over 200,000 lines of code. Embedded within the lines of code are cryptographic riddles interwoven into audio-reactive art which is displayed in the album’s Metaversal engine. Buyers, (and listeners) will compete to solve the cipher lines embedded in the music.

Unvariably, it means there are also 33 NFTs up for grabs. Buyers will also have access to a mysterious golden ticket, 11 3D-printed sculptures, and a bespoke vinyl box-set. As at the time of writing, one of the puzzles, known as the Mirror Mirror Key had been solved.
Truly, Metaversal is a complete work of art. It blends together the finest music with computer science, and cryptography creating an unusual artistry piece. BT was released on Wednesday, September 29th via Origin Protocol, based on a 3-tiered auction system. Opening bids began at 1ETH.
