Thanks to its dark pools, trades on Lynex will remain completely hidden right until the moment the trade is completed.

Lynex and Salus are teaming up to deliver the first ZK integration on Linea. According to an announcement from blockchain security firm Salus on February 14, the partnership, dubbed zkLynex, will introduce new standards of confidentiality and efficiency to Lynex, the popular DEX operating on Linea. The Linea network’s ambition to build the most secure zkEVM ecosystem in web3 makes it the perfect host for the collaboration.

A Valentine’s Day Gift

Lynex and Salus revealed their engagement on Valentine’s Day in a neat display of promotional chutzpah. But while the newfound union is now very public knowledge, the pairing will mean increased privacy and confidentiality for all Lynex users.

The privacy benefits are thanks to ZK-proofs, which will ensure that trades on Lynex remain anonymous even through verification, enabling customers to trade with complete confidence and confidentiality.

The benefits won’t stop at privacy alone, though. Another boon of the union will be faster and less costly transactions. For traders sick and tired of excess fees, it’s the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.

Welcome to the Dark Pool

The creation of dark pools on the Lynex exchange is another important aspect of the budding partnership. Dark pools are little heard-of at present and even less understood, but the benefits are likely to make them an increasingly important feature of trading in the coming year.

Thanks to its dark pools, trades on Lynex will remain completely hidden right until the moment the trade is completed. This will allow users to keep their intentions private until the trade is executed and finalized.

Lynex and Salus expect the introduction of dark pools to reduce knee-jerk trades and improve stability. It should almost entirely limit slippage caused by MEV bots scanning the public mempool and attempting to front-run trades, too. zkLynex will also allow for secured large orders without telegraphing user strategy.

With these sort of built-in benefits, the time for dark pools has truly come. It is no exaggeration to say that public pools may soon be dead pools.

Improved Performance across the Board

The Linea network is making a name for itself as a low-cost, efficient network, but the introduction of zkLynex should further bolster these credentials.

The introduction of fully recursive SNARKs will have multiple benefits, such as reducing the computational footprint of transactions on the network and improving throughput, “like cleverly folding a really large map so it fits easily into your pocket,” says Salus.

Salus and Lynex are telling users to expect faster and less costly transactions on-chain, a bold claim they will surely waste no time in testing. With this comes the added benefit of increased scalability, meaning the DEX and liquidity marketplace will be able to handle vastly increased throughput without additional strain.

Of course, for zkLynex to reach its potential, it will have to convince users of its superiority compared to competitors, of which there are many. With more and more hype around ZK tech of late, the endeavor certainly has a fighting chance.
