The Guinness World Record for most people using virtual reality currently sits at 1,867 participants and was recorded back in 2017, when the metaverse did not exist.

The world’s largest virtual reality (VR) in-person event is scheduled to take place in Madrid in a bid to launch a new metaverse.

The event will take place on August 27 at the WiZink Center in Madrid and will be hosted by MundoCrypto, a cryptocurrency training academy that operates in Spanish-speaking countries.

The event will see 7,500 guests attempt to break a world record in the VR category and also try to create a new world record category that involves the Metaverse. The event will begin at 17:00 CET on Saturday and will run until midnight, streaming out to over 100 countries in English and Spanish.

Mani Thawani, the founder of Mundo Crypto, speaking after the announcement, stated:

“My team and I are proud to have played a key role in driving mass adoption of crypto over the past three years through our online educational courses. The time has come to bring the crypto community to our hearts for a unique physical experience in the metaverse. Why not be brought to a special place in Madrid, and break a world record at the same time?”

Individuals visiting the WiZink Center in Madrid can check out the gaming area, the NFT room, and the training room, listen to presentations by crypto experts, and participate in the attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records.

Networking with businesspeople and investors is also something crypto world is anticipating. Event tickets are sold for €50 but are refunded once the ticket holder has arrived at the event.

The Guinness World Record for most people using virtual reality currently sits at 1,867 participants and was recorded back in 2017, when the metaverse did not exist.

The event will be overseen by 15 representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records. Participants will be outfitted with VR headsets that allow for phone insertion. Earplugs will also be worn by attendees for a fully immersive experience.

Mundo Crypto was founded in 2019 and is aimed at democratizing access to education and financial freedom through the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The company currently offers crypto training, which includes blockchain courses, to over 55,000 people in Spain alone.

The WiZink Center, formerly known as the Sports Palace, is located in the heart of Madrid, the capital, in the Salamanca district, and has been tagged as the most versatile multipurpose space in Spain. The center currently holds a variety of events, including big sporting competitions, concerts, and smaller formats for new performers and shows.

The center recently hosted a European basketball game between the Spanish basketball team and the Greek National team.
