Playboy and The Sandbox are building MetaMansion upon Playboy’s Rabbitars NFT project that consists of as many as 11,953 unique 3D animated bunny avatars.

Playboy, a worldwide known brand by an American global media and lifestyle company PLBY Group Inc (NASDAQ: PLBY), has teamed up with The Sandbox (SAND), the third-largest metaverse based on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain. Within the collaboration, Playboy will launch MetaMansion, a themed social gaming experience that will run on The Sandbox and offer gaming, social play, events, as well as NFT releases.

Rachel Webber, Playboy’s Chief Brand & Strategy Officer, stated:

“We’re thrilled to work with The Sandbox and its best-in-class design and development team to build a premium, customized Playboy gaming and social experience in the metaverse. We can’t wait to invite our global Playboy fanbase, and in particular our Rabbitar community and The Sandbox LAND owners, into this new immersive world of Playboy.”

A short preview of the MetaMansion shows an array of voxelated playmates lining the red carpet that leads to the virtual mansion. One of the virtual playmates shows us a greeting card with the Playboy logo and the letters “VIP” underneath.

Notably, Playboy and The Sandbox build MetaMansion upon Playboy’s Rabbitars NFT project that consists of as many as 11,953 unique 3D animated bunny avatars. Owners of Rabbitars, as well as The Sandbox LAND holders, will have the privilege to get access to special experiences in MetaMansion.

More specifics and the launch date of the project have not yet been revealed.

Playboy’s Entrance to NFT Space

Playboy entered the world of Web3 back in April last year. At that time, Playboy partnered with digital art platform Nifty Gateway to launch an online art gallery in the form of NFTs. The NFTs were erotic digital art creations by various artists, including Slimesunday, Blake Kathryn, and others. Notably, the first drop, which was the collection called “Liquid Summer”, sold out in under 3 minutes.

Further, in October 2021, Playboy released a collection of 11,953 non-fungible rabbits, giving a new life to its iconic rabbit character. The Rabbitars were created by Playboy’s dedicated Web3 Innovation team, in collaboration with Possible Studios and WENEW, the art studio and blockchain technology company. Those who acquired Rabbitars NFTs got access to exclusive member events, artwork, merchandise, pre-sale access to future collections, and much more.

In addition to the Rabbitars collection, Playboy also launched The Rabbit Hole, a dedicated Discord server to create more engagement and interaction with the NFT community.

In February this year, Playboy revealed its plans to build a new Playboy Mansion in the metaverse, spreading its bunnies in the digital community. And seems that partnership with The Sandbox is a perfect start to achieving this goal.
