TVzavr Announces MoviesChain Platform to Revolutionize Independent Movie Industry

MoviesChain, new blockchain-based film distribution platform developed by TVzavr, announced TGE to disintermediate the whole industry, bringing together film viewers and independent cinema.

For decades now, the movie industry has been plagued by the same set of problems – funding, access to content choice, and advertising losses. Up to 50% of the revenue generated by the industry goes to middlemen therefore making financing of future projects a very dicey prospect for most, especially in the independent industry.

Couple this problem with the revenue loss due to copyright infringement, piracy, and the fact that the landscape is dominated by just a handful of corporations that continue to stifle original content – and you get an outlook that becomes dire for the independent producer.

Blockchain media startup, MoviesChain by TVzavr, addresses these market inefficiencies by completely decentralizing and disintermediating the independent film distribution industry.

A Rewarding Ecosystem

Unveiled at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival, MoviesChain is a revolutionary film distribution platform leveraging blockchain technology to enable independent filmmakers rent and sell their contents to the global community from anywhere in the world. The disintermediated platform directly connects filmmakers to the community, significantly reducing the cost for both marketing and distribution, thus allowing them to keep up to 90% of their profits.

“The project presented by MoviesChain like others that use blockchain technology and the cinema is a significant part of the future”, says Jerome Paillard, Executive Director of the Cannes Marché du Film.

“At the Cannes Marché du Film, we set aside a lot of attention for new technology in general and blockchain in particular. The problem is that bitcoin doesn’t have a very good image in some countries. But I am convinced that the new cryptocurrency can have higher standards of control and ethics and allow people, specifically those connected to making films and those who simply love watching them, to use it more confidently”, he added.

The Future of Content Distribution

MoviesChain opens up a realm of possibilities for independent film producers offering a secure and completely transparent platform with financially attractive distribution plan through online theatres. This channel allows art house fans to easily watch films immediately after the film premiers at festival. Concurrently, MoviesChain, developed by TVzavr, one of the biggest VOD (Video-on-Demand) players in the Russian market, also provides reliable protection against piracy through blockchain technology.

Currently, the company’s services – TVzavr, Russian Cinema, and MoviesChain – have accumulated over 175 million unique users. The user base grew by 25% and annual earnings was up to $10 million in 2017, doubling from the previous year.

One-of-a-kind Blockchain-based Cryptocurrency

MoviesChain operates on a paid model with each movie viewing priced at $1.50. All settlements on the platform are powered by the platform’s internal currency – ZVR token, which will go on sale on April 16th on the Ethereum blockchain during the platform’s Token Generation Event.

100 million ZVR will be issued in total during the three-months long event, with 70 million ZVR being distributed to contributors. Soft cap for the event has been set at  $5 million, while the maximum (hardcap) is $30 million. Token price will be determined when event kicks off.

Only whitelisted contributors who have registered at the project’s website will be able to participate in the first stage of the event. The first 1/3 contributors to the first stage will be rewarded with a 25% bonus, while remaining participants will get a 20% one.
