Several top European bank shares dropped in the aftermath of the $3.24 billion takeover of troubled Credit Suisse by its Swiss rival UBS Group via a government-brokered deal. Credit Suisse, Switzerland’s second-biggest lender, is the latest casualty of the turmoil, following the collapse of US-based Silvergate Capital, Silicon Valley Bank, and Signature Bank.

According to reports, UBS was down 8% while Deutsche Bank was down 4% after earlier slipping by 10% and BNP Paribas was down 3% compared with an earlier fall of more than 8%.

The current vulnerability surrounding the traditional banking system has helped boost the cryptocurrency industry, as the global crypto market capitalization rose overnight by 2.35% to $1.18 trillion, the highest since August 2022.

As the next bull run takes effect, VeChain (VET) and Stacks (STX) posted significant gains while the new meme token, Big Eyes Coin (BIG) was preparing for its latest presale bonus code launch.

VeChain – Weekly Rally Keeps Price at Bay

VeChain (VET) posted a 24-hour gain of 1.85% to trade at a high of $0.0249 before witnessing a downward correction of 0.72% to trade at its current price of $0.02425.

Despite a weekly upward trend of 12.35%, VeChain still fell short of its 7-day high of $0.02524 and a 30-day high of $0.03245. At the time of writing, VeChain held a market capitalization of $1.75 billion with a circulating supply of 72 billion.

Stacks – Massive Weekly Surge

After having opened the year at $0.2081 and trading along a flat line ever since, Stacks (STX) has surged 74.15% over the past week to trade at $.126 while indicating an overnight upward trend of 11.87%. This is Stacks’ highest since April 2022 before it witnessed a steady decline till February this year when it began an upward movement.

At the time of writing, Stacks held a market capitalization of $1.7 billion with a circulating supply of 1.3 billion.
