Fall’s biggest Blockchain initiative, BlockchainWeekend NYC is just around the corner. Featuring 50+ events taking place across all five boroughs over the weekend of November 7-10, New York City’s tech and blockchain community comes together. You are invited to participate by attending, watching and exploring the blockchain community. Discover some of the coolest projects that are taking place this fall

BlockchainWeekend NYC is a project that came out unexpectedly and yet was sorely needed by the blockchain community. Unlike Blockchain Week that focuses on large conferences, BlockchainWeekend was imagined as a decentralized community series of events over a 4-day period. It is not a surprise that NYCEDC, an innovator in the Blockchain governing space, has decided that it was time to focus on local projects.

“We are excited to see collaborative, community-driven initiatives like BlockchainWeekend NYC that are helping grow New York City’s blockchain community,” said NYCEDC Chief Strategy Officer, Ana Ariño. “BlockchainWeekend is a first-of-its-kind event that aims to provide vital resources and connections to residents across the 5 boroughs, from the blockchain curious to blockchain professionals, giving everyone an opportunity to participate in the development and growth of this technology.”

Featured events include:

  • Blockchain Live NYC, a discussion with industry professionals to learn about applications on the blockchain and the future of decentralized finance. It will take place on Saturday;
  • Blockchain Crypto Summit is planned for Thursday morning;
  • Centering Diversity in Decentralized Technologies (in the afternoon on Thursday), an event hosted by Consensys and Civic Hall answering the question: “How might we use blockchain technology to create a more inclusive world?

The main event of the weekend will be on Friday. It will be the BlockchainWeekend Summit NYC that is scheduled to take place on November 8th. With an impressive line-up of speakers including Alf Poor (CEO of Ideanomics), Sunaya Tuteja (Head of Blockchain, TD Ameritrade), Mark Jaffe (President of New York Chamber of Commerce), Phil Kelly (BD Executive Director, Consensys), Clyde Vanel (New York Assemblyman and Chair of NYS Internet and Technology) and Karen Bhatia (Senior Vice President, Tech at Economic Development Corporation), among many others.

Focused on future tech, governance as well as decentralization, BlockchainWeekend Summit encompasses what the weekend is all about – bringing together all aspects of the tech community. Along with speakers and panels, BlockchainWeekend Summit will also feature live blockchain showcases such as 3Box, TaxMap and many more.

”New York’s tech scene has been growing for years, and with a focus on meaningful problems and products for global customers. So it’s no surprise it’s become one of the hottest centers for blockchain and distributed tech. BlockchainWeekend is a great opportunity to bring the community together and bring new people into it, and we’re so excited to be showcasing what we’re building at 3Box and meeting the other great projects, teams and people that will be there,” said Danny Zuckerman, Co-Founder of 3Box .
