British-American cybersecurity pioneer John McAfee is planning to run for the role of US President in 2020, aiming to promote the rights of the crypto-currency community and change the crypto landscape for the better.

John McAfee, the founder of McAfee Antivirus Software and tech millionaire, has announced his decision to run for president in 2020. He will either run with the Libertarian Party or create his own.

John McAfee is a British-American computer programmer and businessman. He is believed to be the most powerful social media influencer in the sphere of cryptocurrencies. McAfee’s Twitter account is really unique in the crypto world. According to McAfee, he promotes only those services and products that are truly trustworthy and that he absolutely believes in. One his tweet promoting ICOs costs $105,000.

In 1987, he founded the software company McAfee Associates. He is also a political activist who sought the Libertarian Party nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 election, losing to former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson.

As for the elections of 2020, John McAfee is planning to use the run in order to promote the rights of the crypto-currency community.

McAfee added that he does not necessarily has a chance of winning, but he believes that creating the president can really change America, not the president himself.

Many Twitter users thanked McAfeefor his decision and assured him that they will vote for him. Some volunteered to help him. One user created a logo and campaign slogan: “McAfee 2020 For A Secure Future.”

The news comes after McAfee announced that he is planning to release a physical cryptocurrency called the ‘McAfee Redemption Unit’ (MRU), which appears to be completely unrelated to the seemingly-defunct cryptocurrency he released last year, called McAfee Coin.

John McAfee is a passionate proponent of Bitcoin. In September 2017, Jamie Dimon, the CEO of J.P. Morgan, criticized the digitaal currency, calling it a fraud. “It’s worse than tulip bulbs. It won’t end well. Someone is going to get killed,” Dimon said.

In responce, Johm McAfee objected. “You called bitcoin a fraud,” McAfee said in September. “I’m a Bitcoin miner. We create bitcoins. It costs over $1,000 per coin to create a bitcoin. What does it cost to create a U.S. dollar? Which one is the fraud? Because it costs whatever the paper costs, but it costs me and other miners over $1,000 per coin. It’s called proof of work.”

As for the run for president, it seems to be more of a cryptocurrency awareness for John McAfee than a serious presidential bid.
