Ethereum as a PoS Protocol: What This Means for the Virtue Alliance Platform

On September 15, the Ethereum protocol underwent the highly anticipated transition from the Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus model to the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) model, ushering in a more scalable and relatively efficient protocol.

As the largest blockchain protocol for smart contracts in the world, the transition to PoS spells a lot of good omen for the chain as well as the platforms hosted on it. While scalability is one major capability that has been introduced with the merge, the fact that Ethereum is now 99.95% more energy efficient than its PoW version has added more credence to its tag as a next-generation blockchain network.

Considering the transition, a couple of the games hosted on our platform that are built on the Ethereum protocol, including Axie Infinity and The Sandbox have announced support for the merge. This is a welcome development as we at Virtue Alliance believe protocols should be built with consideration for environmental sustainability.

With our hosted games now embracing Ethereum PoS, we are committed to supporting their transition, and giving the players on the Virtue Alliance platform access to interact with these games as they pledge to conform to the sustainability pursuits of their base blockchain network.

It is a no-brainer that the digital currency ecosystem, and by extension, the broader Web3.0 ecosystem is evolving. While we continue to adhere to strict interoperability principles, we are also flexible in accommodating the evolution of any protocol that is associated with us. While we understand that more upgrades are in the works to help Ethereum transition fully into the PoS consensus model, we would provide the necessary support and allowances to protocols which we intend to partner with in the near future based on current provisions.
