Honor provided details on the physical features of the new V40 phone. The smartphone has a 10-bit OLED screen and its display supports more than 1 billion colors.
Honor has unveiled V40, its first phone since Huawei sold the company last November. Honor announced the 5G-enabled V40 during a live-streamed event on the 22nd of January.
According to the announcement, the V40 phone is in two kinds, depending on the storage. There is V40 128GB and V40 256GB. The 128GB is priced at RMB 3599, while the other 256GB is priced at RMB 3999.

In addition, Honor provided details on the physical features of the new V40 phone. As stated in the company’s announcement, the V40 has a 10-bit (8+2-bit) OLED screen that makes it display more than 1 billion colors. The display of various colors gives the V40 the ability to cover the entire DCI-P3 color space. In addition, using the V40 would provide a smooth touch experience as it has up to 300Hz touch response.
Furthermore, the Honor V40 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC. The phone has a 400mAh battery capacity and charges up to 60% within 15 minutes. To charge the battery fully from its lowest, V40 would take about 35 minutes. The phone’s battery can also be charged at 50W without cables, allowing users to power their phones up to 50% in 30 minutes by wireless charging.
Honor has also improved gaming performance on the V40, equipping the phone with GPU Turbo X and Hunter Boost optimizations. The company also highlighted the camera features of the new Honor V40. The phone offers high-resolution pictures and “amazing 4K videos” with its main camera backed by a 50MP RYYB sensor.
Speaking at the “Sense the Future” virtual event where the V40 was announced, Honor CEO George Zhao commented on the company’s “new brand strategy” for the new year. Expressing his excitement, he said:
“We are so grateful for the long-standing support of our loyal customers and partners who have been by our side over the last seven years. Our customers are our number one priority, and as we embark on this exciting new chapter, we are dedicated to going above and beyond to create a new intelligent world for everyone around the globe.”
Huawei Sells Honor ‘Under Tremendous Pressure’
On the 17th of November, Huawei announced its plans to sell off Honor to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology. Upon a successful sale, Huawei said it would not hold any shares in Honor. Huawei will also stop having right in decision-making for Honor. Huawei further stated that the decision is to ensure Honor’s survival.
Although Huawei did not include the transaction details, an earlier report by Reuters said the sale could be up to 25 billion yuan ($3.7 billion). Citing reliable sources, Reuters added that the deal may also be an all-cash sale.
