Control Your Home from Anywhere with Samsung’s SmartThings [Infographic]

Samsung announces the SmartThings Hub that allows users to monitor, control, and secure their home.

Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd has recently announced the Samsung SmartThings Hub. SmartThings allows users to easily monitor, control, and secure their home from anywhere. The Hub includes a bunch of products such as outlets, water sensors, security and much more.

The SmartThings Hub connects numerous smart devices, a user gets access to more than 200 IoT products and is able to control them all from a phone or tablet. Integration with Amazon Echo enables controlling products by voice command.

The Hub enables such useful things as stereo playing the sound of loud barking dogs or siren rings and flashes if there is unexpected entry, thermostat automatically adjusting as family members come and go, water sensor sends a user an immediate alert to prevent a leak from causing a flood. Besides, users can control lights from another room or another country, phone notifies a user if a teen is trying to sneak in past curfew, cameras let users see that their kids are home from school.

Furthermore, it enables such pleasant and convenient things like lights slowly brightening as users wake up, dinner starting getting up as user leaves for work, stereo playing a user’s favorite playlist when he/she comes home each day.

The Hub, the device itself, was launched in September 2015. The IoT company SmartThings was acquired by Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd in April 2015.

“We believe a connected home will provide users [with] more information, more piece of mind and more control in their lives – but privacy is fundamental. The whole thing is encrypted end-to-end – think bank-level security – while we have continuous security checks and third-party auditing. Only you will have access to any data stored in the cloud,” said Samsung’s president of UK and Ireland Andy Griffiths in September when the device was launched.
