Microsoft (MSFT) stock rose by 1% as the Redmond Washington Technology giant announced new devices including Surface Go 2 and Surface Book 3. The company also unveiled a release date for its Surface Earbuds, Apple’s AirPods competitor.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) stock price has risen by around 1%. This was as a result of the unveiling of new devices. MSFT stock closed yesterday at $182.54 (+0.98%), in the pre-market, MSFT is at $184.48 (+1.07%). This indicates that there is space for growth opportunities during this period. Microsoft unveiled new devices at a time when more people are using computers. This is due to the shelter-in-place restrictions that are already in place. Among these devices from Microsoft are new versions of the Surface Go 2 and Surface Book 3.

Microsoft (MSFT) Stock Price Rises as New Surface Devices Are Here

The Surface Go 2 is a smaller spinoff of Microsoft’s original Surface device. It comes with a processor that is more powerful than the first edition of the Surface Go. According to Microsoft, the Surface Go is 64% faster. It also comes with a 10.5-inch screen. This is slightly larger than the first surface Go 2. The price tag of $399 makes it ideal at retail value.

The Surface Go 2 also comes with a 5 Megapixel Front-facing Camera. This camera will come in handy now because many people are video conferencing. Lower-priced versions of the Surface Go come with 4 GB of memory and 64 GB of disk space. Versions with twice the specifications will also be available. The Surface Go is going to be available for orders from May 12.

The new version of its Microsoft’s Surface book Laptop also rocks. The Surface Book 3 has a few neat tricks. The screen is fully detachable from the rest of the laptop for instance. This allows anyone to work with the Surface Book as a tablet. It has the latest intel 10th generation processors. It also comes with an NVIDIA Quadro RTX 3000 graphics card for power users. The memory was also upgraded with about 32 GB of RAM. The price tag of $1,599 makes it ideal. The Surface Book 3 will also be out from May 21.

Microsoft Is Entering the Audio Space

Microsoft’s Surface Headphones 2 also came with extended power. The headphones can go for up to 20 hours without being charged. The earphones have been designed to be comfortable. Noise control comes with 13 different levels. The new Surface Headphones 2 will be available for the first time in black. They will also be out on May 12. The price tag for the earbuds is $249.

Microsoft decided to launch Apple‘s Airpods competitor. The Microsoft Surface Earbuds as they are known will be available from May 12 and for $199.

Things Are Good for Technology Right Now

This is a great time for hardware. The bad thing about it is that there aren’t any flashy events to launch new devices in style. The good thing is that the devices are needed. Microsoft has already recorded an increase in Windows 10 monthly usage by around 75%.

Working remotely seems to be the coolest thing around too. So much so that Microsoft had decided to allow workers to work from home through till October. This comes as the shelter-in-place restrictions in Washington State are set to expire at the end of the month.

These kinds of new workplace cultures could create a new paradigm. One where distance is no barrier to productivity. For tech companies, this could be the missing link for them to take over the world (pun intended). For now, though, it is a necessary adjustment needed to defeat COVID-19.
