Justin Sun, the founder of TRON and CEO of BitTorrent, celebrated the partnership with MixMarvel, and looked forward to bringing its NFT marketplace to the TRON blockchain.
Cryptocurrency network TRON (TRX) has entered into a strategic partnership with MixMarvel, a blockchain-based global game publishing platform, to develop NFT capabilities on the smart contract blockchain.
The partnership is expected to see MixMarvel’s Non-Fungible Token (NFT) features brought to the TRON blockchain as part of the latter’s ongoing expansion into decentralized finance. The integration will also see MixMarvel’s blockchain protocol made compatible with the TRON Virtual Machine, as well as its TRC20, TRC721 and smart contract architecture.
TRON developers will have the opportunity to integrate MixMarvel’s wallet software development kit, which acts as a cross-chain portal for the transfer of both fungible and non-fungible tokens.
NFTs Come of Age
The NFT market first showed signs of life as early as 2017 with the release of CryptoKitties, a digital cat collectibles dApp which briefly became so popular it brought the Ethereum network on which it was based to a screeching halt, as fees rose went the roof. In the resultant fallout, the NFT space went somewhat dormant, showing little signs of life again until 2020.
In a few short months since the turn of the year, the total value transacted in NFTs shot to over $500M, with nearly half of that figure accumulating in the last month alone, according to data from NonFungible.com. The adoption of NFTs as a new technological medium by high-profile celebrities shows little sign of slowing, following recent news that Lindsay Lohan has also chosen to launch a token on the TRON blockchain.
Justin Sun, the founder of TRON and CEO of BitTorrent, celebrated the partnership with MixMarvel, and looked forward to bringing its NFT marketplace to the TRON blockchain. Sun said:
“NFTs are a revolution of our generation and we are excited to be collaborating with MixMarvel, a renowned platform to bring an NFT marketplace and wallet to the TRON ecosystem,” adding, “In 2021 TRON is making a commitment and investment into art by fostering the growth of NFT’s; partnering with the top NFT and digital content projects is integral to TRON’s initiative.”
“TRON has some of the biggest and most active communities in the entire crypto space and is one of the best-known platforms in the blockchain market,” added the CEO of MixMarvel.
MixMarvel’s Rocket Protocol is a layer-2 cross-chain solution that connects with the virtual machines of various prominent blockchains. Smart contract compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine is already functional, while the network is due for a mainnet update in the first half of 2021 that will also introduce its native MIX token.
MixMarvel recently began beta-testing for LeCube, a new community-driven NFT project which the project described as “LEGO on the blockchain,” and, “an art version of Github,” where NFTs can be created free-form using cubes. Over 2,000 participants were selected to take part in the internal beta-testing, which began on March 16.
