The event takes place on October, 22 – October, 26 and covers Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya.
The aim of WBRShow is to establish links between crypto entrepreneurs worldwide. In five days startups will get in touch and set partner relations with blockchain experts of three crypto capitals: Abuja, Johannesburg, Nairobi. Every participating project will be presented during a pitch session in each city. The event is organized by the International Decentralized Association on Cryptocurrency and Blockchain. IDACB is the largest blockchain association connecting 95 countries.
Although Africa is still a blockchain amateur the rates of crypto assurance and implementation are high in the region. Last year, peer-to-peer bitcoin trading in Nigeria increased by nearly 1.500% whereas only China showed stronger performance. According to Citibank report, South Africa took the sixth place globally for the highest amount of bitcoin holders per capita, Kenya came in the fifth and Nigeria came in third.
The specialists believe that a cryptocurrency is a way forward for small business owners and entrepreneurs in the unstable economic environment of the region. The use of digital currency allows entrepreneurs to access their money without the risk of inflation or political unrest affecting their assets. Cryptocurrency-based remittance services are popping up across Africa.
Meanwhile the eldest one – South Africa-based Luno Exchange, which was established in 2013, services 1.5 million customers in over 40 countries worldwide.
