New York-based YES Network recently introduced a streaming option for non-cable viewers to access live Yankees games.
YES Network has launched a streaming service that allows non-cable subscribers to view live New York Yankees games. The YES Network streaming service will cost $24.99 every month or $239.99 annually. However, the service also has a promotional offer of $19.99 per month, or $199.99 annually, for subscriptions before April 30th. This promotional run expires at the end of the year. Subscribers will get immediate access, just in time for the Major League Baseball (MLB) season which begins on Thursday.
YES Network chief executive officer Jon Litner expressed delight at the direct subscription service in a statement. According to him:
“We are pleased to introduce a direct subscription option. With this new direct-to-consumer offering, we are broadening our reach by making YES available to more fans in our regional footprint than ever before.”
In addition, Litner touted YES Network’s proven track record in US programming, saying:
“For more than 20 years, YES has provided fans with a best-in-class sports viewing experience. Fans continue to tune in to and engage with YES in record numbers for the most in-depth and most innovative coverage of our teams and our other award-winning programming.”
The YES Network’s new streaming option is available to viewers in its “regional coverage territory.” This territory includes New York, Connecticut, north and central New Jersey, and northeastern Pennsylvania.
YES Network Streaming Includes Other Programming Features
In addition to the 2023 MLB season, subscribers to the direct-to-consumer streaming service can also watch other YES programming. The American pay television regional sports network operates a website and an app available on several platforms. These include iOS, Android, and Samsung TVs. In addition, subscribed owners of other smart TV platforms such as Apple TV, Roku, Google TV, and Amazon Fire TV can also watch YES programming.
Traditional pay television service providers of YES programming include Spectrum, Fios, Xfinity, Optimum, Blue Ridge Communications, DIRECTV STREAM, and Cox Contour.
The YES Network streaming development is a growing trend among regional sports networks (RSNs). These networks offer streaming services outside of the cable package to access consumers who do not subscribe to traditional pay TV. Regional sports networks view the number of cable-unsubscribed consumers as an opportunity to establish a new lucrative revenue stream. It is a fact that millions of American households cancel their cable service every year.
