Apple WWDC 2021 Keynote Today: Here Is What to Expect

As the MacBook Pro is more likely to be announced, users can expect to land a gadget with the new Apple-designed processors that would “greatly outpace the performance and capabilities of the current M1 chips”.

The annual WorldWide Developers Conference (WWDC) from the American tech giant Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) is taking off today, the 7th of June, 2021. The event is billed to take place online as adherence to COVID-19 restrictions is still being upheld by the company.

The Apple WWDC is one major event that the company’s investors, customers, and the broader tech community always look forward to. At this year’s event, there are mounted expectations per the new innovations or products the company is set to unravel. While it is generally known that Apple does not announce hardware products at its annual WWDC events, there are inclinations it might unveil a new MacBook Pros this year.

Barring any form of twists in surprises Apple may have up its sleeves, Here are some expected announcements the company is likely to make.

iOS 15 with Its Contracted Upgrade in Notifications and iMessage

The tech giant is billed to reveal a new Operating System dubbed iOS 15. Amongst other things, the new OS is expected to bring an overhaul and improvements to notifications. Users may be able to have different notification settings for different scenarios such as sleeping, driving, and working amongst others. Atop the notifications, you may be able to set customized responses depending on your preferences.

The upgrade in the iMessage according to a report by Bloomberg, will seek to turn the iMessage application into a social messaging platform, just like WhatsApp from Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB). This feature may however be announced at a later date.

Through the new OS, Apple seeks to continue its privacy enhancements by adding a feature which shows you apps that are silently collecting data about you. The upgrades extend to iPadOS 15 which will let users drag widgets anywhere they want on their homescreens.

There May Be an Emergence of a New OS: HomeOS

Not much is known about software updates for the Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. The Mac users can expect a shift to MacOS 12 later this year, Apple Watch is billed to see improvements related to fitness tracking, and Apple TV is projected to witness an improvement in content playbacks.

Amidst this speculation, there are indications Apple is on track to launch a new operating system dubbed HomeOS. These expectations were born out of a job advert in which the HomeOS was previously tagged. There remains no certainty the kind of devices that will use this new OS, however, a good guess may include the Apple TV and HomePod Mini.

Apple WWDC: New MacBook and AR Headsets May be Unveiled

As the MacBook Pro is more likely to be announced, users can expect to land a gadget with the new Apple-designed processors that would “greatly outpace the performance and capabilities of the current M1 chips,” according to Bloomberg. While the previous devices are notably superb in terms of performance, these new releases are bound to even give users a more satisfying experience.

There are additional indications that Apple may be on track to release its long-awaited Augmented/Virtual Reality Headsets. With enough speculations filling the media, most of these expectations will be confirmed when the event kicks off at 1 PM ET.
