While Google has dabbled into phone production in the past, the Pixel Watch will be its first foray into smartwatch manufacture.

American multinational technology conglomerate, Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL) has announced the date for the unveiling of the new Google phones, smartwatch, and upgrades to its nest program. As announced, the unveiling will be done on October 6, and the company will reveal more of the tech giant’s Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro Phones.

The company has earlier teased the release of the new phones a while ago during its I/O Conference in May. While it only showed a teaser video at the time, the capabilities of the Pixel phones have remained a confidential secret to date.

However, this scheduled event will bring Google’s innovation to the limelight. The proposed October 6 event will showcase an insight into Google’s tech advances and how its new product line will compete with its top competitors particularly, Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX: 005930).

Billed to take place in New York City, the event is scheduled to commence at 10 am E.T.

While Google has dabbled into phone production in the past, the Pixel Watch will be its first foray into smartwatch manufacture. With much unknown about the watch, the teaser given by Google shows the watch will offer its users some Fitbit features.

While the new set of products will be available for order from Oct. 6, prospective buyers will be able to know the capabilities of the gadgets, their costs, and when deliveries will be made.

Besides this new product line, the company also revealed it will be showcasing new upgrades to its Nest products. The Nest product line features items such as home speakers, networking products, thermostats, doorbells, and security cameras to mention a few.

Will Google Phones Survive the Competition?

With Samsung unveiling its foldable phones in August and Apple set to launch its iPhone 14 models today, speculations now abound as to whether the Google Pixel phones will be able to compete with the advanced options available to users.

While the speculations are not backed with data at this time considering Google has not revealed the features of the phones, the competitive advantage that Google can have will be in relation to pricing.

The Apple iPhone brands and the Samsung foldable phones are high-end pricey phones that are generally not affordable for average users. Google can change the narrative, and provide an equally quality phone that will come cheaper to gain a broader market share.

This is mere speculation as the current macroeconomic outlook has made inflation a bottleneck to account for. With the increasing cost of production, and high delivery costs with respect to disruption global supply chain, the phones may be cheaper than current alternatives, but the margin may not be too wide, especially if the quality is the same.

With October 6 barely a month away, Google will be able to gauge interest beforehand and gain an insight into the demand for the new products.
