Helium and DAWN offer a decentralized solution, empowering individuals to directly build and share Internet infrastructure.
The collaboration integrates DAWN’s devices into the Helium Network, enhancing access to the decentralized Internet.
By 2025, 8,000 DAWN nodes will be added to the Helium Network, expanding decentralized infrastructure.
Helium Mobile, a decentralized wireless communication firm, has partnered with DAWN, a decentralized autonomous wireless network created by Andrena. Together, they are creating the first fully decentralized last-mile Internet solution.
Through the combination of Helium’s community hotspots and DAWN’s broadband nodes, they aim to make Internet access cheaper, more reliable, and fairer without relying on traditional providers.
For years, Internet access has been controlled by a small number of companies, leaving users with high costs and limited options. Helium Mobile and DAWN want to change that by empowering individuals and businesses to participate in building the infrastructure themselves.
Helium Mobile allows individuals to set up hotspots in locations like stores or event venues. These hotspots provide mobile coverage and transfer data for nearby devices. Hotspot owners are rewarded in cryptocurrency, earning more as their hotspots transfer more data.
DAWN takes this idea further by offering decentralized broadband. Using its nodes, DAWN connects directly to data centers, enabling homes and businesses to access and share internet without relying on traditional service providers. This eliminates the middleman, reduces costs, and creates a more affordable and accessible Internet.
Seamless Integration of Helium and DAWN Networks
Through the collaboration, DAWN’s devices will connect to the Helium Network, giving its users and those from other carriers more ways to access affordable and reliable Internet near DAWN devices. Helium Mobile hotspot users will also have another option for decentralized broadband. By combining DAWN’s nodes with Helium’s system, both networks offer a seamless, decentralized alternative to traditional Internet providers.
In 2025, as part of this strategic collaboration, 8,000 DAWN nodes will join the Helium Network, significantly strengthening the decentralized infrastructure and providing users with additional options for accessing reliable Internet.
Shaping a Future of Affordable and Accessible Connectivity
Amir Haleem, CEO of Helium Mobile, commented that joining forces with DAWN will allow them to offer more affordable and reliable ways to connect. He added that working with DAWN will also enable them to create a telecom system that works for all. He stated:
“Connectivity is a necessity, not a luxury. Partnering with DAWN allows us to extend our vision of decentralized telecom by providing consumers and businesses with more affordable and reliable ways to connect. Together, we’re dismantling traditional barriers and creating a telecom model that works for everyone—not just the few.”
Neil Chatterjee, CEO of DAWN and Andrena, also shared that through their partnership with Helium Mobile, DAWN is broadening its decentralized model, enabling more people to share broadband and seamlessly connect with the Helium Network. The CEO said:
“Through our partnership with Helium Mobile, we’re expanding this decentralized model to a broader audience, enabling users to not only generate and share broadband but also benefit from seamless integration with the Helium Network. Together, we’re creating a new Internet that reduces costs, increases choice, and is user-owned.”
This partnership represents a significant shift in how Internet and mobile services are delivered, creating a future where the power of connectivity is truly in the hands of the community.
