The aim is to push the mainstream adoption of kin tokens by integrating them with gaming SDKs and further using them for rewarding the developers.

Gaming giant Unity Technologies and the Kin Ecosystem Foundation has recently announced an Asset Store in partnership thereby allowing game developers use Kik’s Kin cryptocurrency to rewards the players. Unity is the creator of the worlds most widely used real-time 3D development platform with some popular game creations like Pokemon Go, Cuphead, Kerbel Space Program and many others.

Kik joined the crypto space last year in September 2017, where it managed to raise $100 million from the sale of its Kin tokens. Now with the help of the Kin Ecosystem Foundation, Kik is seen signing deals with several partners in an effort to make its kin cryptocurrency broadly available to the market. However, to put an end to this, the foundation recently released a Software Development Kit (SDK) to make it easy for gamers to incorporate Kin tokens to its game. Unity is said to be the first participant in kin’s “decentralized ecosystem for digital services and applications.”

Dany Fishel, executive vice president of partnerships at Kin said: “Our initial partners need to work hand-in-hand with us to create the tools and services that will serve as the foundation of the Kin Ecosystem. With Unity, we get a partner committed to democratizing development, solving hard problems and enabling success, which aligns perfectly with our goal of creating a thriving ecosystem that maximizes the value of Kin for developers.”

This means that the team will work to create a wallet and a marketplace for developers which will be merged in the beta stage. The SDK will then be open sourced and available at the Unity Assets Store. Once the SDK has been thoroughly tested via a unique beta program with select Unity Partners, game developers will then be able to design and monetize apps with kin tokens and blockchain technology at the core.

Dany Fishel in an interview to GamesBeat said: “Unity is at the point where they feel cryptocurrency is interesting to game developers. Our SDK makes it very simple. The player can look in the wallet and see how much Kin they have, and then spend it inside the game or on things that go beyond the actual game.”

With the Kin tokens, which works on both Ethereum and Stellar blockchains, Kik aims to create an entire ecosystem of digital services. As more and more partners join the ecosystem it will further drive the mainstream adoption of Kin tokens. With more partners, Kik aims to launch the Kin Rewards Engine (KRE) as a part to incentivize the developers to create more valuable services in the ecosystem.

In a statement, Hubert Larenaudie, president of APAC at Unity Technologies, said: “Developers benefit when they can monetize digital experiences and quickly expand transactions across global markets. We are continuously looking for top companies in the space who understand consumer experiences and believe that the combination of Kik’s experience and user base, along with Kin, provides many opportunities for developers.”
