Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ: META) has announced that its second Meta Connect 2022 conference will hold on the 11th of October. This is coming after the technology company changed from Facebook to Meta at Connect conference debut in 2021. At the time, the event was under the Oculus Connect name.

Meta Announces Connect Conference 2022

According to the Meta Connect website, the 2022 conference will be virtual, and people can discover the development of the metaverse and the importance of collaboration while live streaming. Meta added that there would be sessions for creators and developers available on demand after the show.

The technological company described the Meta Connect 2022 conference as a one-day virtual event.

“[It] explores the building of the metaverse and the future of augmented and virtual reality. Industry leaders will share the latest technologies and developer sessions will cover how to use them. Our goal is to bring the world closer together and deepen human connection through new experiences.”

Aside from the information on the website, there is currently no other information on expected sessions and speakers at the event. However, Mark Zuckerberg revealed that Meta would release its next-gen VR headset at the event. The CEO announced on Joe Rogan’s podcast, stating that it would cost more than the $400 Oculus. Also, the device will likely have eye-tracking and face-tracking. The Connect conference 2022 might include news about the upcoming virtual worlds.

Meta has rolled out its VR-based social platform Horizon Worlds over the past year. The platform was firstly released in the US and Canada, after which it expanded to Spain, France, and the UK. Additionally, it also mentioned developing a web version of this platform after users complained of harassment. Meta is also planning to create tools for creators to sell in Horizon Worlds. With NFTs talks here and there, Meta may discuss its ties with potential marketplaces in the upcoming event. The company has invested funds in its metaverse vision, and we are expecting comments on it.

Meta’s VR Headset

Zuckerberg has stated that the VR headset, which is a sequel to the Oculus 2, will focus on “social presence.” He mentioned that the headset’s design captures users’ facial experience while they are replicated on their avatars in real-time. The CEO added that the headset would launch next month. In the same month, Meta is also planning to shut down its Facebook gaming App in October. Upon the shutdown, the app will no longer be available on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

Meta stock is currently up 0.16% to $158.80 after losing almost 3% in the last five days.
