On September 12, 1:00 pm to 3:45 pm CEST, Microsoft and hubii will co-host a blockchain event at Microsoft’s offices in Oslo, Norway. The name of the event is “Microsoft and hubii – Blockchain in Practice”. It is open to participant registration and will highlight many of the top blockchain applications being built in Norway.

Blockchain in Practice Event Details

Speakers at the event will include people from Microsoft, hubii, Norwegian Block Exchange (NBX), and StartupLab. They will each be sharing exciting updates from each of their respective companies. The closing session will be a joint presentation with both of the event’s co-hosts, Microsoft and hubii.

They will officially announce a partnership and info about hubii’s decision to choose Microsoft Azure to run nahmii, a second layer scalability protocol. The event signup form also mentions that this presentation will include information regarding test results of the nahmii protocol.

Last month, hubii partnered with NBX, another blockchain company that will be present for the event. In addition to becoming the first member of the nahmii Foundation, NBX has made headlines over the past few months for the announcement of an upcoming payment gateway and cryptocurrency exchange that integrates with Norwegian Air Shuttle, one of Europe’s top budget airlines.

During this event, NBX plans to put its payment gateway proof of concept on display. On September 3, NBX received an investment of $1.65 million from Sparebanken Øst, a Norwegian bank that will take a 16.3% ownership stake in the company.

Jacobo Toll-Messia, CEO and founder of hubii commented on the upcoming blockchain event,

”Working closely with Microsoft will give nahmii the platform and exposure it needs to become the premier blockchain scaling and interoperability solution. Our upcoming event, along with NBX and StartupLab, is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the power of nahmii to Microsoft’s existing customer base. This announcement is a major coup for hubii.”

The current objective of nahmii is to become the world’s first enterprise-grade blockchain scaling and interoperability technology for Ethereum and other blockchains. In future stages of the project, nahmii expects to launch iterations that provide scalability to two additional blockchains: Bitcoin and Libra (tentatively).

Eventually, the project will tackle its ultimate goal of interoperability between all three blockchains.

Microsoft’s Contributions to the Blockchain Ecosystem

The decision by hubii to use Microsoft Azure for the nahmii protocol is another big movement in adoption of enterprise-grade blockchain technologies. J.P. Morgan, Singapore Airlines, Starbucks and Xbox (owned by Microsoft) are all well-known customers of Microsoft Azure for blockchain.

Microsoft has invested significant capital into Azure and other blockchain products. The Azure webpage states that the company spends over $1 billion each year in R&D for cybersecurity and employs a team of 3,500 security experts.

Azure also has the most compliance certifications of any cloud provider on the market, which could be beneficial for various projects as more governments pass more regulations for blockchains as well as data protection.
