Elon Musk said that all accusations against him in the sexual harassment case have been politically motivated. “Those wild accusations are utterly untrue,” he added.
The world’s richest man and billionaire Elon Musk has come forward to defend himself after recent accusations of sexual harassment surfaced. On Thursday, May 19, Business Insider published a detailed report with accusations of a flight attendant who worked as a member of the cabin crew for SpaceX’s corporate jet fleet.
Sexual Harassment Accusations against Musk
The incident reportedly took place back in 2016, wherein the attendant accused Musk of making sexual advancements and promising her to buy a horse in exchange for an erotic massage. The incident took place in a private cabin on Musk’s Gulfstream G650ER, said the attendant. The accusations go further to the extent that Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX paid the flight attendant $250,000 as a settlement.
Interestingly, these accusations come within 24-hours of Musk making shape attacks on US politicians, especially the Democratic party. “Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold,” he had tweeted.
Soon as the accusations surfaced thereafter, Musk responded calling it a “politically motivated hit piece” “Those wild accusations are utterly untrue. If I were inclined to engage in sexual harassment, this is unlikely to be the first time in my entire 30-year career that it comes to light,” he wrote. In one of his recent tweets, Musk adds:
“The attacks against me should be viewed through a political lens – this is their standard (despicable) playbook – but nothing will deter me from fighting for a good future and your right to free speech”.
Elon Musk and Politics
Elon Musk has been very vocal on his Twitter handle on a number of issues. Be it his own companies, US economy, crypto, gaming, politics, and much more. Recently, Musk has been often tweeting about the current Biden administration and its policies.
Earlier on Twitter, Elon Musk openly lashed out at the Democrats saying:
“In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.”
Not sure if the recent accusations have any political angle to them as claimed by Musk. Also, the accusations haven’t come directly from the flight attendant (the supposed victim) but rather her friend.
The friend told Business Insider that unlike her, she is not bound by any non-disclosure agreement with SpaceX.
“I absolutely felt a responsibility to come forward with it, especially now. He is the richest man in the world. Someone with that level of power causing that kind of harm and then throwing some money at the situation, that’s not accountability. There are predators all over the world. But when someone is particularly wealthy and powerful, they literally have systems that are like a machine working for them, to set them up to be able to do whatever they want,” added she.
